Yes. It can only 'send' the data (card details), not read. To read (decode and process), pos is needed. This is for safety reasons.

Hello sir... I want to know that can we have/use a single different mobile number for ( other then which is linked to bank account) for phonePe, Googlepay(UPI apps ). Will it work.? I mean recently updated my mobile no. In Bank. But I can still use phone, Googlepay.. etc for sending and receiving money for day-to-day task with my other no. Linked to it. I have not updated my new no. On this app. Is it because I have dual sim phone. Or UPI linking no. Should be bank linked no. Is not mendatory. Please 🙏 reply and give me some clarity. That old link should be down in 7 business days until your new phn number is linked totally. Or it can be your bank's negligence that they didn't do the update but said you that they did. Be aware, some banks are doing it. Try to deregister and register again.
