Thank you, Dennis. Love your friendly, warm and inviting commentary. We adore Sarlat and have visited each year for a long time. La Lanterne, by the cathedral is a great place to stay.

One of the most famous native of Sarlat is Etienne de la boétie (1530-1563) French magistrate, classicist, writer, poet, and political theorist. At the age of 18, he wrote an extraordinary little book "Discourse on Voluntary Servitude" which takes apart the mechanism of dictatorship and servitude, and thereby provides the solution. His friend, Michel de Montaigne, one of the most significant philosophers of the French renaissance, had this book published at his own expense after the death of Etienne de la Boétie. Considering the actual social and economic state around the world in 2022 with buffoon leaders like Trump, Boris Johnson, Putin, and the list isn't exhaustive, this little book should be given to read in all the schools around the world.
