Wow! I worked in Thames Valley Police Custody as a Detention Officer few years back and actually remember David coming in a few times. Gotta say its so good to see he's doing loads better, every one of us in Custody had the utmost respect for him and could see he was battling demons. Well done buddy, so good to see you're on a better and more positive path.

Dodge, you are becoming a legend yourself on here. The wide, varied fascinating true stories of other people's lifes are amazing. One of the reasons I reckon is they do their homework and see what a class act you are and as I have said before, one of the best interviewing techniques out there by a country mile. Sensible probing questions and letting the main focus of interview being on the person telling story is so different to what we normally have and include the names on mainstream TV. Ironically it brings focus to yourself as well as you are so different and do such a good job, that most people on here notice and you become a sub topic of how well you conduct both yourself and interview. To be honest, having you being interviewed on the other side of the table would make a fascinating episode as would be interested hearing your back story as well. Abba can do it mate - you can appear as a digital avatar and interview yourself. Guarantee lot subscribers would like to hear your own backstory..Class act my friend.

I really hope Dave continues to thrive and get better. Another thing I find is that people underestimate just how much of an effect things that happen to you as a child can have on your adult personality and psychological state. Things like being in an abusive environment, getting bullied, etc, these things never truly go away and have a greater impact on our mental health than we realize. A really good saying I like is "the body remembers what the conscious mind chooses to forget".

That was one of the best interviews I've seen/heard. Very powerful and interesting. Best wishes to Dave and more military stories please Dodge! I find the underworld/gang land stories somewhat predictable even if they're interesting but anecdotes and accounts from soldiers and 'ordinary' people are fascinating and relatable in some way and I can appreciate the heroism that good people are capable of. I'm forever grateful for what our military do and have done. I'll never truly know what it was like for them but I'm damn proud of them and I've read enough to understand and have an insight of what they've experienced. If anyone knows any vets that are struggling, please direct them to the relevant help or just lend them an ear and tell them how important they are. And if they'll let you, give them a hug. Also Dodge, your interview 'style' is spot on, you genuinely want to hear what the guest has to say and don't interrupt. looking forqward to the next one!

I’ve only just found this channel, and wow I’m blown by this and many of the others I’ve listened too, I’m struggling coming from the Ambo to a new job, trauma of the past jobs, watching seeing things, going into an environment where people still have the mindset of mental health and men aren’t a thing, trying to fit in etc etc and too listen and understand other men talking makes me feel just that bit better that it is ok that there are others that are going through there own battles each one different but see other men talk about it, keep up the good work and the education of these podcasts big respect.

The honest way Dave opens up & talks about the what he has been through is staggering, esp to someone to whom this life is foreign. But I have to say I am totally floored at the lack of ongoing & follow-up care & psychological assistance after combat tours. It is surely the responsibility of the military organisations to care for these veterans who have given so much of themselves - body, mind & spirit. To feel such pain that the best option is to check out is heartbreaking & it's great to hear Dave is now getting the help he needs & is in a much better place. Wish him all the best

This was an amazingly raw and real discussion. Dave I would love to see you write a book and also talk with Jocko on his podcast. It takes real strength to openly talk about such personal hardships. Thank you for telling us your story, we are so happy you could turn things around!

Great interview, and with a salt of the earth character. Deepest respect for those who gave so much, so young, so we and our children can enjoy a safe life.

Another great podcast, seems like a really nice kid, it's disgusting how these ex servicemen just get tossed aside after they leave the army, I hope he finds peace and happiness in the future.

Dave fantastic open interview and I am stoked that you on the up big style, I think you have hit the nail on the head re decompression, shooting someone at 9am and shopping in tescos at 9am the following morning, how can the senses comprehend the change ? The government need to let troops unwind and re acclimatise before returning back to civilian areas otherwise you sadly will not be the last that struggles to cope ..
