I have a bit more recent info about students accessing SAS Model Studio for free. Students can now gain access without a course, here: www.sas.com/en_us/software/viya-for-learners.html (you may need to copy/paste the link). You just need a SAS profile linked to a .edu email address and then simply follow the instructions for "Students". Good luck!
