Gangstar #1 Bob was ur stepfather ?
@gangstar86524 жыл бұрын
If words were bullets Waaarpoet Well ok it's a bit strong. He and my mum were engaged to be married before Bob left for Iraq. They were together enough for the MOD to come up and inform my mum of his passing and get his black kit, his go bag out the safe. They told my mum Bob died in a drainage ditch of hypothermia but when she went to the funeral she learnt the awful truth. Bob had been shot multiple times but the worst was a bullet hit a white phosphorus grenade on his webbing igniting it burning him badly. Such a shame and such a great guy, what I saw of him. He'd only been badged a year bless him.
@cheekboy72474 жыл бұрын
@@gangstar8652 how do you think he died? Did he die with a pile of brass beside him or did he get ambushed like "the real bravo two zero" explained? Why would you guys get his black kit? I hope you are not fucking lying
@gangstar86524 жыл бұрын
Cheek Boy Of course I'm not lying, you sick? Bob was on call on a beeper as he was on the CRW team at the time and had to be at the camp within 30 minutes well there were a few bits and pieces still in the safe that had to be returned. Shit,move heard a couple tell me that I knew that they'd found a go bag in the attic from a previous SF guy who lived there and apparently there was an MP5 in there and grenades and shit. There were two boxes of 50x9mm rounds in the guys she'd do I imagine it's true. He told me he'd just handed it in to the police on a gun amnesty one time, I could of cried. But no, I'm not lying, don't be so fucking stupid.
@gangstar86524 жыл бұрын
Cheek Boy He was shot we hope as to the bodies from what I hear there were none but I'm going on words of the hajis on the Michael Asher programme The Real Bravo Two where the Iraqis denied any dead but who knows, on the other hand they said Bob was a very brave man so I don't know the answer to that. It's not covered in Michells book though it's mostly a work of fiction in any case

Hats off to these boys. Personally, 3 years in The Guards was enough for me. with regards to the question of "National Service"? i couldn't agree more. If nothing else, it would teach youngsters that "RESPECT" is something you have to earn from the guys left and right of you. As well as above and below you. In addition and just as important, it would teach people, that the word "RESPECT". has an "R" and an "E" in front of it. And doesn't end in "BRUV".

And I'm absolutey in agreement with Mark 'Billie' Bingham's comment about 'National Service' .A country like the U.K wth all of it's History& especially it's Military History and yet they decided to get rid of it! .Which is strange considering the big debate about staying in the EU and yet many of those country's still have compulsory 'National Service'..I'm sure the 'leaver's' (which would mean me)would be in favour of National service and the remainer's would probably object...Go figure!..And he's right about the ' Modern Human Slavery' issue..in Mexico u have the Drug Cartels force illegal immigrants to smuggle Drugs,charging outrageous sums( which so many of the people have no chance of paying)So they get dropped off at a Brothel,drugged&can never pay back the loan! And u have Hotels in Dubai who take new employees Passport to copy ( it sounds fairly reasonable)but then then old onto the Passport!!

@Mark Smith National Service can hardly be compared to that distasteful 'Press ganging' .It works fine in many.countrys (2 to 3 yrs of Service)and maybe it's a window into an career that many wouldn't have considered until exposed to that environment..
@jerryoshea31164 жыл бұрын
@Mark Smith In an ideal world,yes!But the British military has a difficult time recruiting,so this might help some..Ur argument applied many yrs ago,but times have changed.. And the SAS are still top of the tree,but the overall military has plenty of Competitors for reasons mentioned..But I think we might 'agree to disagree' here..

Can I ask a question and I’m not at all calling any of what you have done into question. How and why would you complete the AACC if you were in the royal Hampshire REGT. I understand gunners and engineers completing it as those sqns rgt are attached to 3 commando brigade. I know rifles now support 3CB but they don’t complete AACC. To add also why would you complete P coy if you were not part of 5 airborne brig. Gurkha and guards parachute coy were formed to bolster para REGT due to lack of recruits but not sure PWRR were attached. Just asking for some clarity for my own interest the army doth move in mysterious ways, Ken hames being one to note. Cheers
