Sassa says ID verification is to curb fraud

There's growing criticism over Sassa's new ID verification system for social relief of distress grant recipients. Various groups have threatened to take legal action. They claim the biometric verification measure is unfair to those without access to the internet. Sassa spokesperson Paseka Letsatsi says the system is meant to curb fraud.

I know of mny sassa beneficiaries are who so affected by the new move by sassa. The sassa organization is jsut concerned about itself while excuding hundreds of their beneficiaries going hungry with this stupi measure.

But this system doesn't work nonetheless. I have been waiting for two weeks for this supposed 'sms link'. So what is the purpose of implementing a system that doesn't work

I do not know how the government thinks anyone can live off 680tands, that is just slightly above their monthly cut off, so if someone puts 400rand in your account to go for a job interview and stuff, you will likely get declined that month, just use a database, or increase the cut off mark to 2k
