Itachis in edo tensei is a needed version of alive itachi, so if itachi was alive and never had any lung disease or anything he would have done a lot more in the series and during the fight with nagato, he would have been a lot more efficient. Also depends on what sasuke you're talking about. Sage of six paths boosted itachi would beat itachi yes but any other version no. It wouldnt even be close. Madara in his normal state without the power of all them dojutsu he didnt have prior death itachi probably would have won. This was actually perfect! It's still crazy to think that a sick Itachi who struggled to even bind/mold chakra for most of his later life still scales higher than a healthy Sasuke with EMS. Just imagine a prime alive Itachi without being on his deathbed/being almost blind could've been. Itachi is by far the most underrated character in all of Naruto. Call me an Itachitard if you want, it's literally a fact when you add up all the disadvantages he had to face and all he was still able to do despite them. Itachi + Minato = the saddest characters in the series because of what they could've been.

Sasuke legit went from being low Akatsuki level to arguably stronger then sage naruto level within the span of a few hours IMO. If itachi didn’t suffer from his disease then it could go either way because itachi is slightly more haxed and a tiny bit smarter whereas sasuke has more chakra and a physically stronger body, it’s not a one sided stomp like you would like to believe. The kabuto fight is also not a good way to gage their strength because although ems sasuke does scale to Ms itachi in that fight, this itachi is also immortal and can afford to take hits that sasuke simply could not.

Not only that but Sasuke was easily on Itachi's Anbu level by the time he absorbed Orochimaru, otherwise he never would of tried fighting him to begin with. Itachi was a bit stronger than Sasuke's EMS. (Which isn't surprising considering that Edo gives him infinite stamina, his weakest area, along with practically EMS of his own and nigh immortality.). Itachi was practically an earlier bloomer and Sasuke an extremely late one, hence why he catches up to and surpasses his brother so quickly in Ship, even though the gap was massive in their youth at similar ages.

Itachi was really retconned to be a good guy later in the series, his actions don't make sense at all, either he is a psychopath or Kishimoto wanted him to be a villain at the start but changed his mind later (I mean his name is Itachi roughly weasel, weasels are an ill omen, signifying bad luck and death. Who would name their child that?) Itachi claims he loves Sasuke but then goes and put him in a coma TWICE, I mean Sasuke hates him enough when he sees that he killed his family, there no NEED to put him through 72hours of his family deaths, if anything Itachi helped Sasuke go a dark path while clamining to love him and doing it out of love. I mean ok the first one is understandable, sure he wanted him to hate him, but when he meets him in that hallway when looking for Naruto, he sees that his brother is finally making friends, and somewhat happy, what does he do?? He puts him in a coma that can only be awakened by the legendary sannin that wasn't even in the village and erases all progress his brother had made. Imagine if Tsunade didn't agree to going back, what then? He claims to love Sasuke, but he lets Orochimaru get a hold of him when HE KNOWS that he will try to get his body. If anything it was 100% Itachi's fault that Sasuke grew up like he did, he was only shaping him to be a psychopathic murderer and it is pretty understandable how Sasuke was and really commendable that he was able to bounce back TWICE, even if thanks to Naruto. Let's not mention that he literally told a traumatized kid to kill his best friend for power, yea talking about setting a good example, encourage him to kill a fellow konoha ninja. What could go wrong? There a lot of things I can mention too, but tbh I hold no hate for the character he did sacrifice a lot, but it doesn't change the fct that he was merely retconned later.
