The background on page 13 is not the Hokage mountain side. It's shown later during the Sarada and Sumire conversation. Also, Sasuke clearly states Code is stronger so he clearly lost to him while also handling the Claw Grimes. It's actually impressive on Sasuke's end if you think about it.

Oh it's definitely impressive but the implication I got from it was more of the Grimes kamikaze charging (sasuke beats 7/9) before their new tree abilities take him by surprise while being overwhelmed. But maybe we get more clarity on it later

5:24 I don't consider Sasuke defeated in this situation tho. Bc all it takes is one touch (bite?) to be Tree'd like that. So for me, that's not absolute defeat but rather incapacitation.
