@@nardostaye1031 since its 20% more, he added 20 to 100(original %) which gave him 120% = 1.2

So .2 means 20% of something right? so 1.2 means 120% of something. Im guessing that you wanted to take 20% of type b then add it on to B to get Type A. But this is the same as 120%. So a simpler way would be to B times 120% which would equal A.

Great Vids! Question: on your opening screen, there are three sample percent problems in a box at the top of the screen. The third one asks: "10 is what percent of 50"? Your answer in equation is 50%. Did you mean 20%? 50x=1000, so x =20.

good catch - when i solve it in the video at 4:58 I solve it as 20% but on the opening screen it is incorrectly written as 50

To find the percent increase of the customer’s water bill, the absolute increase of the bill, in dollars, is divided by the original amount of the bill, and the result is multiplied by 100%, as follows: 79.86/ 75.74 = 0.054; 0.054 × 100% = 5.4%. Choice C is incorrect and is the result of dividing the difference between the two bill amounts by the new bill amount instead of the original bill amount.

Math Buster could you plz help me… About 145 out of 500 students prefer walking instead of riding the bus to school. About what percent of the students prefer walking? A. 30% B. 50% C. 70% D. 145%
@MathBusterVideos3 жыл бұрын
145/500 = .29 as a percent that is 29 percent because you move the decimal place two places to convert it - so choice A. 30% is the closest

why is it 1.2 and not 0.2 as 20 perecent means 0.2 ?
@MathBusterVideos7 ай бұрын
i use 1.2 because it’s 20 percent MORE not just 20 percent - so the 1.2 is the same as 120 percent
@OscarMorales-wn7ql2 жыл бұрын
Is not true, that 50%=1/2 , What is for you the concept of The percent ? You know what is a operator ? When you will to calculate 50% of 12 , you don't write 50% . 12= 1/2 . 12 =6. because is not true 50%=1/2. 50% is not a number.
@Loveitmore1 Жыл бұрын
50% is 50 "per hundred", which is 50/100. 50/100 does indeed = 1/2. so 50% equals 1/2.

@@MathBusterVideos now i feel bad for voicing my feelings, but i really don't know how else to phrase the disorganization of this video. the first half where you talk about the formula + tips and tricks on how to easily find percentages is fine, but the second half where you go over the questions doesn't follow well. you neglect the formula you included in the video and solve the questions mentally with little to no concrete explanations. the video is fine for an introduction to percentages (first half of the video at most) or to brush up skills, but not for those who are nearly strangers to the topic (like myself).
