Thank you for the post. It was really helpful, in combination with the CA DMV handbook and other KZbin videos.

HOW WAS UR TEST
@tkhagos8 жыл бұрын
My apologies for the long text reply. I guess it's pretty easy for someone who have thoroughly read the handbook and reviewed some videos, such as this one. Anyhow, there's two options of test taking, paper and touch screen for English and Spanish languages. Please note that, for written test per one application, you've three chances to pass the test. In the touch screen based type of test, you can only skip three questions per test, otherwise the test would be considered as a fail. More than 6 wrong answers per test is also a fail. By the way I kinda noticed that if you fail and if you're taking the test in one of the dmv offices that allow for non-appointment, you can go over to the line and do it while you're still at the office. Here's, how I knew that was possible, while I was waiting for for my number to call, I over heard one girl telling her mom she failed the test and she wanted to try one more time. Then, later while I was taking my test, I saw her two cubicles from where I was taking the touch screen test. Also, if you skip three questions they will reappear again at the end of the test and you'll have a chance to finish the test. Keep in mind that once you pick your choice and submit your answer, it's final and you have no chance to second guess. If you get your answer right, the computer will simply proceed to the next question but if you get a wrong answer it will display your wrong answer with red "X" mark and it will mark the correct answer with a green "tick" sign. Don't get panicked yet, try to stay relaxed and composed. By the way the DMV people will try to cajole you to take the touch screen based type because they don't want to manually correct the answers if you take the paper based test. It's good for them but a disadvantage for the test taker, which I will explain later why. If you persistently ask for paper based test, they will print it out on the spot for you. They'll try to tell you they run out of the printed paper test, by the way that's how they got swayed me into taking on the touch screen test though luckily I made it through. I'll tell you why you should root for the paper based test no matter what and how they tell you touch screen is easy blah, blah...In one question, which I definitively knew the answer, I accidentally submitted wrong answer which deducted me one point right on the spot. Had it been a paper test I could go all over my answers again to double check and would have realized that I picked the wrong answer. The other plus side of paper based test is, you can skip as many questions as you want if you're not sure what to answer without having to worry you'll get booted out of the test. So, I strongly recommend paper based test, especially if you're taking the test on appointment. Even if they tell you they run out of printed test papers, you can still ask for a printout and be persistent that you want paper based test. One more last tip, there's only four dmv offices in Cali that give a walk-in written test in the same day. One in San Jose (by the way I had to take Bart from Oakland to Fremont and then bus to San Jose downtown and from there biking for about 15-20 mins) and the other three are in SoCal, around LA I think (check the dmv website). If you're not from around these places or you have no way of making it to those sites, you're going to have to schedule appointment online. Bear in mind that, in most cases the earliest you can get is one month just for one time written test! So be sure you don't blow the chance you have, otherwise, I think you have to schedule another appointment. I repeat, be sure you're well prepared! you don't want to waste another month just for a written test. Good luck to you all! Be safe drivers and care for others lives. Cheers.
