@@s-zz I generally believe is still Acola because Miya and Sonix have slip ups. Miya got out early in Japan in a tournament , and Sonix got Knock out early on Smash Con too. Acola on the other hand is super consistent. Even if Acola loses to Sonix , Sparg0 and Miya , he is the only player that not just gets Top 8 , but generally is always top 3. His worst tournament of the year is Genesis where he lost to MuteAce and then lost to Sparg0 for 7th on losers. Other than that , his whole year has been insane.

@@tepperpepper1047hold on. Let me interject here. He’s carried to TOP 1 by Steve. He’s NOT carried to top 15 - 7 by Steve, for example. Carrying exists, but first it’s good to practice thinking farther and acknowledging what type of carrying is happening…..and actually matters. Most pros will tell you they don’t care about the RANK of #1 on paper and when conversing will simply say “is this guy good?” Especially with Acola. They will mention “is he #1 or not,” but generally they are talking more about if this guy is actually a good player. And even more now talk about “which REGION is the best” then who’s #1

Acola and Miya may be ranked top 2 in the world by the end of the year, but Sparg0 and Sonix (top 3 and 4 probably) are stronger players in skill and fundamentals in my opinion. Sparg0 and Sonix seem to play on another level. And Sonix was single handedly able to make Sonic a not so boring character over the years

sparg0 is a strong player, but it is more unstable than sonix. He is strong against the top tier, but otherwise not oppressive. Next year's world ranking will be "miya,sonix,acola,sparg0". (miya and sonix are changeable.)

Sparg0 at his absolute best I'm willing to believe that for sure. But he's losing more and more. He's not even that much ahead players like Tweek/Glutto/Light if at all. Glutto is definitely top3 "fundies" since that word means whatever whoever says it wants it to. Sonix is crazy but Sonic has always had a crazy advantage state. Acola didn't really play campy for some reason, so I would say it was closer to -2. He beat Ken because he seems to have a great understanding of his habits, which lets him predict where he wants to go.

I think acola gave up on the walling/camping front because sonic ftilt is fast enough to open the wall but still disengage, so he can threaten an overrun, a leap over the wall, and a spindash all at the same time, which defeats the purpose of camping.@@legrandliseurtri7495 The very first engagement they had in game 1 demonstates this, right after that Acola tries to rush the next wall he makes and also loses.

Look carefully, the Spin Dash is truly a broken move. Every other move in Smash can be interrupted, shielded, avoided or parried, but you cannot do it nor safely keep distance with the Spin Dash.
