Damn...Billy gettin' funky all the way round. With that hairdo, though, he looks a bit like Eddie Murphy as "Little Richard Simmons" or "Velvet Jones." :-)

This is awesome, even more than the hair and voice I love that his back-up band (including "hand clappers") are like the "jocks" from a 1949 teen B-movie comedy. Billy... WHAAAAAAAAAAT was that about? Ha, anyway, can anyone show me evidence that he helped write this song? Never heard that before.
@pm8293 жыл бұрын
I can see the producers brainstorming: "Lets' surround him with white guys to make the black easier to handle!". Those backup singers are ridiculous. Billy's rendition kicks ass and rocks. Wowza!
@Greg0762311 жыл бұрын
Mick Jagger was a great song stylist and performer. Billy Preston as all of these and a singer's singer.

DAM that's all i can say got to love the 60's the white back up band. most likely have no clue what that song was lol.

what a singer! He could have been ten times more popular if he had made his name as a solo singer, but I'm glad he didn't!
@radioman6615 жыл бұрын
Otis Redding had a top 40 hit with this in 1965 this version is closer to the Otis version minus the horns wailing. No doubt Billy should've had some radio hits in the mid 60's but his time was coming, becoming a Beatle for a while then massive 70's hits!

@dubbedcrazy He composed the music and played the organ "Type of Material:Music Sound Recording" So yes it is partially his song too and I believe he wrote some of it, they just didn't give him credit for..... the same way Artis and writers always done then and now....so in reality he is not doing a cover tune, he singing and playing something that he owns/ed

@lovie2000 i'm under the same impression...written by mick and keith....produced by andrew loog oldham(we all know how accurate Wik is‚‚‚)......if billy preston was one of the composers...what parts did he write. the melody , chorus? just wanna know what his contribution was. =^_^=

LC Control No.: 91758808 Type of Material:Music Sound Recording Titles: (I can't get no) satisfaction LC Classification: Capitol ST-2532 Published/Created: [Scranton, Pa.] : Capitol, [1966] Performer: Organ with rhythm section ; Sly Stone, arranger. Notes: Soul music. Program notes on container. Last time I checked, being one of the composers of the music on the song...eliminates a person from being labeled as doing a cover tune..

The five horsemen from a movie I saw some years ago, where these preppy white guys were brought in to sing this black mans song and they took it sung it differently than him.....I think it was a movie that Robert Townsend was in, but I can't remember the name of, but he was pissed about them taking his song.....as they always did back in the day
@lovie200014 жыл бұрын
And if he didn't cooperate, the person at that piano singing (Billy Preston) would have looked just like the band behind him...

Gee.. being called an Idiot.. That's not nice or very civil. Am I an idiot because I identified this song from the Rolling Stones...Of course that's Billy Preston playing! That detail I didn't miss. The info I was searching was .. TV show... Shindig ..1965 If you don't have anything nice to say.... better to refrain form comment!
@rasmusl715 жыл бұрын
Yeah, much better than Rolling Stones. Don't know why Rolling stones got so popular, when there were many bands/singers that were far superior to them.... like this one.
@rodrollingstone23622 жыл бұрын
Bollocks, the Stones were and still are superior to any other group in the world, particularly American groups who have never been able to match the Stones for sheer talent and drawing power at venues all around the country, countless times.
