My dog that just passed at almost 15 had it. I gave her a shave six months before she passed. Her sides grew back, her back didn’t. So I’m guessing they’re just follicles that are dead and don’t have extra hair pushing them out. Not 100% it’d feel great but that’s just me. That horse is loving it.

It's good for lambs sheep horses but not for dogs in southern states. I used to shave my golden retrievers but we did some research & testing and found out their fur regulates their body temp better and being shaved can make them hotter. Now we do shave sick animals because they stay inside full time or are in such bad shape. I had no idea shaving dogs was bad until we physically tested it. Some dogs just aren't meant to be in hot climate and some aren't meant for cold b

A horse at my barn has it, he was supposed to be dead on January but he's still alive. He has escaped death 3 times. Once they called another vet 3 months ago and they said "It's impossible he won't make it until tomorrow" (he did). There was also a time were he was almost dead in his pasture but he "came back". June 2024 : Lol I'm still updating this comment, but yes the horsey is still doing great ! Edit (February 2024) update : the grandpa is still around and doing good ! He didn't receive any complications and does not suffer from his disease, as some of you may be scared of that. He's a field-buddy for a few ponies, and enjoys being groomed and getting hugs from us. 🫶 Old edit (july-august 2023) : Somebody has asked me an update, I saw him today and since the last 2 weeks, with his new medication, he looks way better than when I commented ! Of course he still has Cushings and some other medical issues, but he looks great overall.

The tell tale sign is the length and how thick it is and this is coming off in basically a sheet. Another characteristic of cushings is irregular coat growth and a hard time shedding winter coats.

There was a horse at our stable who got a gash in her leg, and so was unridable for awhile, so the owner just stopped showing up. We (I worked there) feed them daily, and give daily medication, but any individual care is the owners responsibility. (If they are in distress we will notify the owners.) But this person just stopped coming, so no one was checking or changing her bandages, or grooming or socializing her, she was just trapped in a stall 24/7. When we went in there to muck out her stall she was really happy to say hi but totally filthy and matted. We took turns grooming her in between our other jobs and by the time we were done it looked like a whole second horse on the floor of her stall. I've never understood how little some people value their companions, or how they can only care about riding them, a horse has value in themselves, they are not just sporting equipment.

@@PandorasIkran cushings isnt a skin or coat condition, it just shows in the coat. Cushings is caused by a damaged pituitary gland, causing excessive hormone production. The biggest symptom of curshings is actually laminitus, which is common in older horses.

A little flea-bitten gray mare I used to ride had cushing’s- they had to shave her a lot, especially in the summer, but she was one of the BEST horses ever. She was sassy, but had the smoothest canter, and did whatever you wanted her to. She sadly passed away last year at 20 years old due to sand colic. Rip Willow❤❤❤

Getting angora wool is very painful for the rabbit. There are luxury mattresses with a layer of horse wool.

@@BambiismusicACC I am sure you are gentle with shearing but unfortunetely not in all countries shearing animals is done on a gentle painless way. Angora rabbits scream from pain when they pull the wool out. Also it happens that they remove skin (mulesing) and cut off tales and castrate wool sheeps without anesthesia. The animals will have a lot of pain. That is cruel animal abuse.

My old guy was about 36 when we put him down. He had cushings but we didnt find out until the autopsy. He was always fluffy and kept weight pretty good, but lost muscle mass just as he got older. He was a good one, that old boy.

My family has a 23 year with cushings disease. He’s had since we’ve had him which is almost 9 years, we were told he had it before we got him. We traded him with a brood mare so much family could have a beginner safe horse. He still acts like a colt and is such a beautiful guy. Definitely turned heads in is younger years.

Tom has Cushings at age 25, but he’s doing amazing right now, and his Cushings is not AT ALL deadly even in the slightest and he’s perfectly healthy! He just sheds a lot and loses and gains weight! 😅
