Video Notes: Design 1. I knew when designing the first example that the scale of the decking and water bottles were not realistic. I could have found a new image of decking but I ended up running out of time. I could also have scaled down the size of the bottles, but then they would be too small for the image considering they are meant to be one of the focal points of the design. Also yes, they should have more transparency. If I had more time and could go back into the design again, I would work in some transparency in Photoshop. Design 2. The stripes are actually on the original poster, but they are merely just stripes. I decided to increase the scale of the models face using the mask, which leads into that 'change' and sense of 'revolution.' The idea of this video is to show people who are interested in learning about psychology and concepts within a design, and how they can play into the final solution Grab my logo design guide here. @@AK-ir1se Somewhat. I think small text for minor details is OK. But the DJ's name in 2nd design should have been larger, & maybe the small print could have been larger as well, since it may be printed as a flyer that is the size of your hand. (I used to DJ & produce raves & discotechs in EU & USA. DJ name & social media info VERY important)

2nd looks great but having the date and DJ name so small does not work well as an advertising for an event. the main function of the ad is telling potential audience when you can see what dj (who is the main reason assuming its a household name to attend especially this event) and this is easily overlooked. it might work well for a booze event but the design hints to a classy clubbing.

2:37 The horizon line of the wooden decking does not match the horizon line of the bottles. A little more and the bottles will fall forward 😞. It looks unnatural. The horizon line of the deck is much higher than that of the bottles, so you could see the tops of the caps in reality.

The Dasani 'after' design looked much better imo (wasn't sure about the waterfall background at first combined with the size of the bottles relative to the page) but the darkened outer (a trick I've used a few times myself!) made it work. The left alignment I thought was an odd choice, but again works well. The original looked like a quick mock up for an ad to get the job done. The second poster was a vast improvement over the original also (the only thing bothering me was the date at the very bottom, I'd personally make that larger). The red diagonal lines across the page really made the poster (Love things on a diagonal, for dynamism) and the red really brought everything together. I would be interested to know how long you spent on each 'before & after'?
@08-15-dude2 жыл бұрын
I like the re-designed layouts - especially the second one. first one I would have changed here and there a few things. For example, the CTA in the bottom right corner - then you can delete it also, drop it to the product where it belongs. And talking about the product - the bottles are too tiny.

while you‘re absolutely right about the different fonts in the first sample there are some serious issues with your design, as well: mixing the volumes with the phone number on the same line makes no sense. no padding between font and bluebar looks just not good. the background… yes it is subjective. we all learn not to drink out of a creek or river, so the message for pure, clean water here is difficult. the angle the bottles stand on this deck is just eyewatering wrong. the bottles are not transparent where they should be. You could solve that with some kind of subtle shine around them.
@umbracatervae89142 жыл бұрын
I'm pretty sure the green on the 1st redesign is because of FIJI water's campaigns.
@digwillhachi2 жыл бұрын
TBH for the bottles and photoshop stuff I give him a pass as I look as this as more of a design idea than a final design that would be printed. If a client was paying for this I would expect more time would be taken to perfect the bottles and maybe even shoot them in a studio.
@EjaxPlus2 жыл бұрын
Spot on, the phone number is blending in instead of doing cta. Not a fan of white text over waterfall either.
@SatoriGraphics2 жыл бұрын
@@digwillhachi Yeah I wish I had more time. Making YT videos, being a designer by trade, running various websites, crypto trading and other things, means I can't really give my fullest to these designs. Often designers will purposely create compositions where things are not scaled properly, and as I was designing this I did know the decking was not realistic relative to the bottles. I just didn't;'t decide to do anything about it.
