Hello. The Eishi that I know is a very old flower. It was registered as a variety almost 100 years ago, in 1929. Probably, it is rarely distributed in Japan. I can't believe this flower is distributed overseas. I am very curious as to where you got this. I posted Eishi's photo and a little information on Instagram. @@satsuki.channel Many old satsuki cultivar are somewhat common in the US. They do not have the new varieties. US nurseries like White's and Nuccio's sell these older satsuki cultivars like Gettoku, Eishi, Fuji Nishiki, and Chitose Nishiki. In Europe, very very few satsuki are used as garden plants.

Thank you. It is very interesting. I found a description that about 100 years ago, a Japanese Satsuki supplier sent 50 different kinds of saplings to America. I also found that 250 varieties had already been sent to the US about 50 years ago. Gettoku, Eishi, Fuji Nishiki, and Chitose Nishiki are rarely available in Japan.
