You and your family remain in my thoughts, I’m so happy to hear that Peter is responding well to his treatment. I’m also happy to hear about this new series of KZbin content. The range of books you showed sound so interesting. I certainly will try to track down a copy of Elizabeth Gaskell’s letters at my local library- she is one of my favourite authors. It is the last day of Victober in my part of the world, and I have enjoyed my reading against the prompts suggested by you all. Over the past few years, Victober has introduced me to a new favourite genre - sensation novels. Although I didn’t get through everything I hoped to read (I was distracted by Terry Pratchett and read five of his Discworld novels), what I have read I’ve enjoyed. I think I will be finishing a few things in the first week or so of November!

Whether the video is "produced" or just shot in the front seat of your car, it's you and your comments, information, and insights that I think everyone tunes in for. So thankful to hear your son is doing well. You should check out Tom Holland's non-fiction book "Dominion." Hi Kate, I'm glad to hear Peter is doing well. Going to the library by your self sounds like such a treat! I am rather a prudish reader. I'd just rather not encounter that in a book. What do you do for your family devotionals? At what age with your boys did you start that? Right now we have a two year old and an infant. We do prayers at night with the two year old and read some kids bible stories, but that is about it for now. Home schooling is such a big job too! I don't think I could ever do that, but it always sounds so nice when I hear you talk about it. There is a classical school near us that is a charter school (no tuition cost!). I'm hoping we can get in there. I'm glad to hear what you are reading at whatever capacity you are capable to share. Thanks!

@@AmandaJHMorton Thank you, Amanda! We keep things extremely simple for family devotionals. We open with prayer, read a short portion of scripture, discuss it, sing that month's hymn, and close with prayer. In the mornings I have been doing a Not Consumed Bible Study with the boys and it has been excellent! I think when Peter was 4 we started doing family devotions in the style we do now. What you're doing now sounds great!

How do you go about working poetry into your reading schedule? I have many large volumes (including Christina Rossetti) of poetry that largely go unread. I like the idea of reading poetry but just don’t cuddle up with it like I do a mystery or fantasy novel. Also, interested in a book featuring Christina Rossetti, vampire hunter? It’s a thing. Author Tim Powers wrote such a novel based on the fact the the Rossetti’s uncle was John Polaoari, friend to Lord Byron and author of the first vampire novel. It’s a rather dark Victorian horror novel that gets quite scary at times. I recommend it kzbin.info/www/bejne/hWObkIKXraeseposi=sQTKGCml1zeJxzoi
