Imagine the excitement we (Baby Boomers) felt when we found out Hanna Barbera was going to showcase Marvel's Fantastic Four! We were fresh from watching the 1966 Super Heroes Cartoon series then this comes along! Then of course Spiderman came aboard that same year, courtesy of Grantray-Lawrence Animation. We were in heaven!! I really enjoyed watching the Fantastic Four. One of the reasons was I had such a crush on the character, Sue Storm. As a 10 yr old kid, I wasn't interested much in girls, but strangely, I was in love with a comic book character! Lol

When I was 7 yrs old Friday night was the Incredible Hulk ,and then Dukes of Hazzard . Then I'd read my new Marvel or DC comic book while my Mom watched Dallas. Saturday morning was the Bugs Bunny / Road Runner Show, Popeye , Spiderman , and then This Week in Baseball at noon. Then I'd see what was on Wide World of Sports (hopefully a good boxing match) and if nothing cool was on I'd go outside and play in the woods or ride my bike. late 70s was a great time to be a kid

@@NostalgiaRoadTripChannel One good thing is that I can get online and find most of the old shows I watched and enjoy them with my kids. And they actually enjoy those old programs like I did . I kinda reliive my childhood vicariously through my kids😸

This was Hanna-Barbara's first action/fantasy based production for ABC, and part of a two-hour Saturday Morning block intended to compete with the Super Heroes on CBS! The Fantastic Four, Spider-Man (making 9:30-10:30am Eastern 'The Marvel Hour') Journey To The Center of The Earth, and King Kong in his second animated season. Season 1 produced 18 episodes. Two more episodes debuted in the Fall of 1968, but the show was moved far down the schedule to 11:30am Eastern. It lost the 9:30am slot to another Hannah-Barbara production, "The Adventures of Gulliver" Finally, all 20 episodes were re-run in Season 3, where all Saturday Morning shows go to die - Sunday Mornings at 11:30am Eastern!

Johnny quest was the best cartoon and sound affects ever. I bought the DVD set and my friends children loved the Robot Spy and the Invisible Blob monster. The Herculoids came along when they came out with effeminate cartoons: the Littles, the cup cakes. the pin cushions, give me an fiiing break ! Gag - aaaaahhhh!!

@@Trupp42 You are right about the the 1982 version when the groups that heavily fought against violence was really watching closely what was made and allowed the toons you mentioned to be shown. Did not view them at all. The 1967 Herculoids was made similar to Jonny Quest.

WOW!!! Talk about a Blast from the Past. I watched it on the cartoon network later on. But I also saw it on the afternoon channels. Really good. And I have seen the different version in the 70’s . I liked it even though it was missing the human torch, I thought Herbie was 😁!!! I didn’t know the reason the human torch was removed was a legal battle or something.

The show only managed 20 episodes yet how the hell did the network stretch it out for three years? as a kid I would've tired quickly watching constant reruns.

Networks then only normally produced 13 episodes a season because they knew us kids and was a way for is to eventually watch every episode on every network because we would always switch channels if we'd seen a previous episode... we were never SPECIFICALLY locked in we created channel surfing... a BRILLIANT idea if you ask me

Apart from the 1978 version by DePatie-Freleng Enterprises (also known as DFE Films) and "Fred & Barney Meets The Thing" from the following year, they would've been added to the 1981 NBC Saturday Morning cartoon "Space Stars" using the Alex Toth character designs (similar to "Space Ghost" and "The Herculoids"). but "The Fantastic Four" was the property of Marvel Comics and if they had permission from them then yeah they could've used them (since they were committed to their fight against interplanetary evil).

Disney by way of Fox now owns a piece of Batman 1966 - just arrange some sort of trade for these episodes with WB. A piece of Batman 66 has to be of roughly equivalent value to this.

I have to admit that I enjoyed The Fantastic Four cartoon more than the more popular Spider-Man one. Why? Spider-Man almost never had a story adapted from the comic (they did do the original Spider Slayer) whereas almost all of the FF shows were based on their comic!
