I have been feeding a couple of chipmunks during the past couple of months. One of them would run up the outside wall to the kitchen window sill when I tapped on the window and beckoned it to come. The other one would come up to me on the back deck and either eat from an assortment of nuts in a small dish that I had put out for it or eat directly out of my hand. It would also drink from a dish of water that I left beside the nuts. It is a choosy little thing and prefers pecans, walnuts, and almonds over the peanuts and will eat the peanuts when there is nothing else! For the past couple of weeks, with the cooler weather, my little friends did not appear, but today, one of them returned. In the meantime, the nuts in the dish that were not claimed in the daytime would disappear overnight and the water dish would be muddy by morning. I suspected a raccoon, and tonight, my suspicions were confirmed when I caught one in the act after peeking out my patio door! I will certainly never compete with Jim, but I felt a little like a member of the club!😂🐺🥜

Love seeing people have a heart for animals. And they appreciate your feeding them so much. I live in NE OHIO and we have allot of them here too. They stole 37 plastic bowls this month that my cats eat out of. They never did this before. I've had my 2 cats for 6 years. I looked all over for the bowls and not one anywhere. We had to start feeding our bandits about 8 feet from the back deck. The few gentle ones will still come up on the deck to eat . Their food source area for generations is being taken from them by housing developments. .
