I will be making a video of tightening the pivot. It really is a shame that Case isn't getting the QC right on many of their knives.

It is best to buy them in person if you are able. That way you can check it out before buying. Next best is to buy from a company with a good return policy.

I only have one 47. It’s in amber bone. It’s a pretty good one. I just ordered my first 75 stockman also in Amber bone because it was on CS instead of SS. I hope it’s going to be a good one but it’s a crap shoot for sure. Thanks for the video. Have a great rest of your weekend.

The carbon steel 75 in amber bone is a great knife. I liked mine so much that I bought a second one as a backup and put it in the safe. I got lucky and got two good ones! Also take a look at the Rough Ryder Large Stockman in yellow delrin and T10 carbon steel. I bought two of them at $12 each! They are great knives!

I've been looking at the maple burl recently. Thanks for a look... beautiful covers. I'm not a fan of the individual back springs. I don't like the gaps it produces in the blade well. Cheers brother 👊

There are pluses and minuses to the 3 spring design. I have a Tractor Supply 47 pattern and it is perfect! Overall I prefer the 2 spring design.

Bummer about all the issues man. The only 47 I have is the Tractor supply exclusive and just like you the blades had wobble and it's mushy with the extra spring. I fixed the blade play but haven't peened or sanded the pin yet. It's not a huge deal but as you said it shouldn't be with the money they cost.

I have one of the Tractor Supply 47's. I got lucky and mine is perfect! The lose pivot doesn't really bother me because I can fix it quite easily, but I shouldn't have to. If I send the knife back I may get a replacement with a problem that is not as easy ti fix, so I choose to keep this one.

Sad that an iconic American institution like Case is suffering a noticable drop in quality. Especially when they cost what they do.

Yep, it is sad. I have actually been having better luck from Bear & Son lately which are also less expensive.

I'll make a video on fixing the knife, but I should not have to! I could exchange the knife but the odds are high that I would get one with a problem that is not easily fixed!

Yeah it gets frustrating when your trying to collect them. Case has suffered in there quality. I have settled on a few of mine and just squeezed them together. Action is not good at all. Hate that for you

I should be able to get the knife just right. The key is to go slow and keep checking the play until it is perfect. I am going to make a video on it.

Lately I have had a string of bad luck with Case. Cracked bone, loose pivots, blades scraping the liner hard..... It is time to slow down for a while and take a break anyway. I will be after a few knives that are special to me instead of collecting for patterns and covers.

@@LastChanceKnives I watch videos and look at my own boxes, looking at the born on dates. I've noticed we are getting these a month after their made. They are flying off the shelves. Case may be feeling the pressure of strong demand.

@@rasputinscastle I think you are on to something there. It wasn't like that in the past. The demand for traditionals does seem like it's gone up, which is a good thing! Maybe Case is having some growing pains.
