You ever see that scene in "The Sopranos" where Carmella's therapist brings her face to face with just how shitty Tony really is? I'd love to see a short film, preferably with the same actor, that riffs off that. But instead of Carmella discussing Tony, it's a GOP Senator discussing Trump. Hell, some of the dialog from the original scene could be used verbatim. Like, "You tell me he's a depressed criminal, prone to anger, serially unfaithful. Is that your definition of a good man?" Or, "You must trust your initial impulse and consider leaving him. You'll never be able to feel good about yourself-- you'll never be able to quell the feelings of guilt and shame that you talked about-- so long as you're his accomplice." @@dailynews5683 So does the trope of ghetto being a derogatory term rather than a sign of harsher oppressive conditions.
@dailynews56839 ай бұрын
@@misterman2830 I'd argue that 'being ghetto' is a sub culture in its own right, and those raised in it celebrate it as being the norm. Of course people raised in that environment have it harder and are oppressed, but there is a difference between having class or not. Look at Trevor Noah for instance. Raised in a poor South African environment yet still exudes class. The same can't be said for a lot of black folks from the ghetto in the states. That's besides the point, though. I hate the fact that when people in this country think of a black man or woman, they first think 'ghetto'. You have to prove yourself first before the greater society will accept you as just a regular black person like Marques Keith Brownlee.

It's amazing to me that even today some people are still amazed that almost everything they watch on TV is controlled and done so purposely. That's why people are stupid. I really appreciate how there's a lot of humour here, it's just not the ordinary 'pause for laughs' kind of humour that SNL mainly does. The actors convey a lot, especially the Graham character. I hope this sketch evolves into something recurring, exaggerating the absurd. For example, they could all join a spin class and talk about Trump like he was all of their famous ex-husband.

In the midway of this our mortal life, I found me in a gloomy wood, astray Gone from the path direct: and e’en to tell It were no easy task, how savage wild That forest, how robust and rough its growth, Which to remember only, my dismay Renews, in bitterness not far from death. Yet to discourse of what there good befell, All else will I relate discover’d there. How first I enter’d it I scarce can say, Such sleepy dullness in that instant weigh’d My senses down, when the true path I left, But when a mountain’s foot I reach’d, where clos’d The valley, that had pierc’d my heart with dread, I look’d aloft, and saw his shoulders broad Already vested with that planet’s beam, Who leads all wanderers safe through every way.
