The one thing I was disappointed with was the "bright colors" popular misconception -- the truth is somewhere in between. Mark Abbe, probably the leading expert on Roman polychromy, has said that many reconstructions are going a little further than can be supported by the evidence -- the coloration probably wasn't lurid most of the time, but "refined and naturalistic", so as to complement the intrinsic qualities of the marble.

I'm a woman and I often think of Rome too, so this is hilarious. And of course I love astrology! And dinosaurs...whew. My youngest could name every single one of them as a child. I remember we were on a dinosaur exhibit tour at the Carnegie Science Museum in Pittsburgh once years ago. The guide asked if anyone knew the name of the dino skeleton we were looking at, and without a beat my baby (who was 5 at the time) said Corythosaurus. He was the only one who knew! Impressed the hell out of the guide...and me! He ended up walking with the guide the rest of the tour and she'd ask him the name of each dinosaur we looked at and he'd be spot on.

All of which was made up misinformation. And you hope it dies on TikTok. And then it gets legs. And now everyone at work thinks it's true. @aaronhaceves tik tok is for children and old people. I'd rather not install that sketchy chinese spyware on to my phone. Once you're over thirty, you'll realize that tik tok is something you want nothing to do with. This sketch is more of just about the facts of life. @OAnIncurableHumanist Жыл бұрын
@@aaronhaceves Yeah this is kind of a miss for me because the Rome trend came and went on TikTok like 2 months ago. At the time you couldn't escape it, every other TikTok on my feed was a Roman empire joke. It was totally beaten to death, and now it's basically completely disappeared. So this coming out months later feels so off the mark. On the other hand, Chloe Troast's orphan sketch last week was hilarious.
