Canais Young He's mentioned this once or twice in Interviews- He and Some friends wrote and loved the idea for this years ago, but it fell flat at the writers meeting. He said he was thrilled in hindsight because now he could throw so much more effort at it!

Agree to disagree. At this point, breaking character has become so expected and popular that it's pretty inconceivable to think that it's authentic half the time. Or maybe even most of the time. I don't find that comedians pretending they can't keep themselves from laughing when they're supposed to be doing a skit is very funny or original. It's tired and way overused.

"Diner Lobster" and "Bodega Toilet" are in my top 5 favorite skits from SNL, and this is my first time to see "Airport Sushi", all are masterpieces of comedy. Thank you, John Mulaney! I agree! These John Mulaney sketches are brilliant! Do you ever watch the earliest SNL shows from the 70's? They certainly weren't as slick and well-produced as the later ones, but Gilda Radner, Bill Murray, John Belushi, and the rest were very funny. Gilda was my favorite! I drove my Mom crazy doing my terrible Rosanna Danna impression. Actually, since I couldn't come close to Gilda's awesomeness, I would say I was Suzanna Rosanna Danna... her cousin from Texas and went in a somewhat different direction. My friends were kind enough to laugh at my jokes, bless 'em!

I love that all the musical theater people love these, but John Mulaney never actually did musical theater as a kid. I feel like it's one of those things he appreciated but he would never want his life to revolve around it. Yet somehow this is better than so much crap that makes it on stage.
