What a brilliant commercial. Looking at it with a new paradigm for walkability in cities, a better understanding of infrastructure and sustainability, I can't help but think that it's a bit ironic and hope that it's also prophetic about how we approach the way we travel and where we go to do the things that make up our lives.

@William You're right and I'd agree, though if there's a bright side we can look to right now there's a growing movement to get rid of car centered life especially among the many who struggle to afford the costs in general, and an entire subreddit called r/fuckcars . Some of us are now old enough to run for office and push some of the policies in a different direction now though obviously the auto industry and business as usual folks definitely have too much sway still.

So much precious space and land wasted for cars. If we design infrastructure for our people (or by relying on rail-based mass transit), we can have more wonderful things like more housing for the people, more farmlands, more beautiful parks with trees, preserving natural habitat and so on. Good job on making the most honest car ad.
@2010hyundaielantra
@2010hyundaielantra 5 ай бұрын
well, with mass transit, you can only go to a predetermined location and can't go whenever you want, but it's much cheaper. you loose a lot of freedom, but it's much cheaper and takes up less space. cars give you much more freedom but are only capable of providing transport to 2-8 people and are more expensive. cars are much better for some, but I will admit there are people who do not need a car at all.
@ikeworkman4449
@ikeworkman4449 4 ай бұрын
@@2010hyundaielantra Cars only give much more freedom if you can afford a car, and live somewhere car centric where everything is so spread out to accomodate all the space that cars need. Cities that are built for people and not cars, inherently make it much easier to get where you want, without a car. Also, it's not as if cars are the only way to get somewhere other than public transit. Bikes, scooters, and simply walking allow you to go wherever you want also. Of course in rural areas where stuff is naturally spread out and the population desity is lower, public transit etc. are less effective like you said. That however is different from population centers that have been unaturally spread out soley to accomodate cars. Yes cities with lots of suburban sprawl, freeways, strip malls, parking lots etc. are going to be more difficult to navigate without a car (and without good public transit), but that stuff largely wouldn't exist if it weren't necessary to accomodate a car centric society in the first place.
