I got to see all tbis action live and didnt know that the prey was still alive. There was just. too much commotion going on and wings flapping all over the nest, coming in and going out...lol. Love watching this family

Very interesting and educational. Slow motion does help to get the action and ongoing event much better and dearly thanking you for sharing it all. BTW I don't think the primary goal of Dad was to feed here. There appears to be many things involved in the process of learning. First how to deal with a fresh meal. Then an exotic cuisine & not garden variety grub. Third, how to make an effort to catch the food, rather than being spoon feed. Well after all you have heard it: "Give a Man a Fish, and You Feed Him for a Day. Teach a Man To Fish, and You Feed Him for a Lifetime" In this case "Eaglets" instead of "Man"! And for those who can't watch it, well you know better and I don't have to say anything! But let me share a story: I never forget a friend that was travelling from LA to SF with family and if you have driven that Hwy 5, you know about the huge Harris Ranch with miles of cows in the field that even if you try not see, you will smell! Well this friends parents, concern as to not getting a surprise question about the slaughter house etc, from the younger kid, were in panicky situation when the kiddy while enjoying the view of the cows, start to wave at them and shouted: "See you in McDonald"!!!!!!! Well one gets it or Gets IT! Law of nature are written on the every atoms of living beings and recycling is the only thing that will not change. Also never forget that not only nature rules, but rules well. Through this natural selection, the weak and bad gene pool, constantly gets wipe out so the survivors remain the best that can be for the given place and time. And lastly, don't you remember when the Fox was paying a late midnight visit to Eagles nest to catch the eggs before being hatched or even to eat the helpless eaglets? Well I hope this is the same fox that we saw before;) So get with it as there is no other way to go on, if you like to live in a real world. Now back to the nest and I have not followed the events for a long time so what happened to Mom and what was the unfortunate event? Then What is happening with HP's left wing that appears slightly unusual in appears, form mid to the end of footage? Hope she gets her wings soon and fly as she should.

Agree Lady! 4:46 dad clearly has it, 5:10 Saucy is assumed to have it as the mantle and dad's ping ponging glances to and fro as Saucy mantles away, 6:04 IMO Saucy's tail looks too "thick" and seeing only the right talon in flight as Lady stated above, I believe Saucy is the "winner" here lol Excellent video full of action and education as the eaglets continue to learn from these excellent parents to survive on their own! (live prey and all) I am just honored to see what most don't witness regularly or really ever! Channel Islands Institute for Wildlife Studies are obtaining some amazing data here at this nest!!

LADYHAWK: What is SAUCY" mean in the heading "Sauces Channel Islands?? Is that a name of one of the Adults too?? I never paid attention to this nest; just recently started watching since H&M are over for the season! thanks
@moka91446 жыл бұрын
Barb, SAUCY is the name that the female eaglet 19A finally got now in beginning of June. Corsair and HP got their names long before in May. I'm so glad, SAUCY now got a name, too.

@barb77746 жыл бұрын
I sooo agree with you Niki.... I don't watch any videos that say "GRAPHIC CONTENT" as we know it is something horrible; I cant watch it either; it sickens me; even though I know its nature; I cant watch an animal being eaten alive, and I am sure there are many others out there that feel the same way.. .I am an animal lover through and through!!! :)
@barb77746 жыл бұрын
no need to see Sharon... Its cause a fox is a mammal.... that's why it bothers us more I think...

It was NOT eaten on the nest! Saucy carried if away!
@barb77746 жыл бұрын
R Jax it was still taken away from its mother! Still prey whether eaten on nest tree or rock! Still alive😖😖😖😖
@rjax67766 жыл бұрын
I agree. It probably was even consumed - just not on the nest. I just wanted to let you know it was not as bad as the other day. It was not gory. There was no blood. For all we know, it may have even escaped from Saucy. But since the parent was in pursuit, one can only imagine that it was eventually consumed. You do not need to watch. But keep in mind the parents have to provide for their eaglets and they also have to teach their eaglets how to catch and consume all kinds of prey. This was a teaching video for the eaglets. They must learn these things or they will not survive!

Are the parents trying to feed the one that was initially in the nest and not the other,?is that why they took off when the 2nd juvi arrived?

I didnt see it any talon after dad arrived the second time. I wonder if it fell over the edge. Would it be too heavy for an eaglet to carry in one talon?

TY LadyHawk for capturing this video. We really don't know if any of the eaglets got to eat this prey since it was taken off the nest by Saucy. Corsair returned to the nest not too long after and seemed to be hungry. Saucy may have had some but crop later did not look like she had all she could eat. Glad you could tell what the mammal was. I was afraid it might have been a kitten but don't think they have cats on the Island. Really did not know what to think! HP definitely thought this prey all hers. With the two older siblings flying in and out prey deliveries have become a fiasco. So entertaining to watch! TY for capturing, editing in slo-mo, and sharing with all of us. QQ Are you ospreychick on the IWS webcam chat page? I keep meaning to ask but keep forgetting after I watch your videos. EDIT: I Forgot, there were other fish deliveries on SC today. So far: 1027.50 Parent flies in with fish -HP claims it- still eating when next fish arrives . 1034.02 Parent flies in with another fish and Corsair is first there -flies off with fish in talons right at the camera.

Can’t watch this sickens me to hear the little fox cry and reath around in pain. Good solid food for these growing eaglets though. I guess practice for the eaglets to get some killing experience. Poor baby kit!
@isabellerudolf44636 жыл бұрын
D Stew the eaglets need to learn to catch fish and not take live mammal babies from a nest. It sickens me also but it is raw wild nature and hard for humans to accept.

Poor baby kit. Don't parent give birth under ground and mama always watching them while outside....I don't understand how the kit was captured for prey
@ladyhawk6 жыл бұрын
The parent was killed and A-40 the male eagle found it and brought to the nest and fed it to the eaglets. :( The kits were left unprotected and that is probably why he was grabbing them live.
