I could listen to Geoff all day. His voice is smooth as butter and sweet as caramel.

In an interview with the Charismatic Voice last summer, he said that this is his favourite, but apparently not others’ because it’s got the least amount of views of all his covers. I think it’s great! I think you might like his cover of “Blackbird” too! And I don’t remember if you’ve done “Shenandoah”?

This has been my favorite for a while now. I think "Ain't No Sunshine" has knocked it down a spot but it really depends on the day. Both are emotional and the way it's conveyed really connects for me with those two songs. It's funny, cause in this one it's his high range that gives me the feels but in "Ain't No Sunshine" it's the rumbly bass that does it. Either way, he's pretty damn good at getting his point across!

You’re not wrong Saucey, you haven’t reacted to Geoff’s Misty Mountains yet. You’ve done the Peter Hollens and Tim Foust one. You definitely need to do Geoff’s. In my opinion, it’s just as good as Peter and Tim’s, just in its own way. Also he has some instrumentation in his so it’s not entirely a cappella. I’ve also read in comments before that Geoff’s final note in his version is a nod to Tim’s Dragonbreath growl at the end of his and Peter’s version.

I feel like Hollens/Foust is the Dwarven Artist Troupe version, going from hall to hall, singing the most elaborate version for the connoseurs of Dwarven music, whereas Geoff’s version is the one we all sing together to, having another pint at the pub. I’m not going to say that either is better, they are just fit for different settings.

@@CuteHalo Exactly. Both are great covers/renditions, and each are unique in different ways. The tone and feeling that each one gives you is different enough that I can say they are equally my favorite cover for different reasons and different moods. I would be hard pressed to be able to choose a favorite artist at all between any of the major a cappella groups/soloists. I love all of them in different ways for different reasons.

Great reaction! I also really love this one. It is definitely top 1-2 for me. Also, totally agree that at this point Geoff’s high notes are more surprising than the super low drops. For me there is just something about the texture of Geoff’s voice that I really love

Love your enthusiasm! I'm a huge fan, so I resonate with everything you say. I'm sorry I don't remember off of the top if you've done Shenandoah yet, but the mid-range vocals are just to die for. Gloriously beautiful.

Shenandoah is my #1 favorite. He can belt it out at any range. Nick also check out Geoff doing a cover of the Beatles song "Blackbird". Another fine example of his range. As for VoicePlay, their cover of "Oogie Boogie Song" from The Nightmare Before Christmas is insane. Geoff showing off his insane range. 😳

Really appreciate your r eactio9ns. Voiceplay and Geoff have so many layers to their talents and many folks miss them. Most music is a one time listen to "get it" but Voiceplay and Geoff are extremely complex and we can discover new layers with each listen.

The thing I love about Geoff's voice is that he sounds like different people in the different ranges...and all good! But when he layers himself with the 4-5 Geoff arrangements, it doesn't sound like he's layering himself. It sounds like a group. And all the levels of range are good. Not strained, not "off." Just...all natural.

Believe me, you’d remember if you had done his Misty Mountains. Many reactors get most of the way through before they even realize that it’s all him, and not him and three other guys. I won’t compare his version to others that have done the same song, but I will say it’s good.

I don't know the details but I'm sure I read that this song means something special to him. Which is why he did it. I'm with you, I love this but Shenandoah is beautiful too. One of the patrons asked him which god his parents sacrificed to for him to be this talented. :) He keeps forgetting to ask them. lol. Have I told you lately how much I enjoy your reactions? I do, very much. You're such fun.

I wasn't sure about this one when I first heard it, I think because it was so different from everything else I'd seen and heard from Geoff. However, after a couple more listens, the beauty of the harmonies and the emotionality of it got into my soul and it became my favourite, though it's now tied for first place with Ain't No Sunshine!

I'm the same way about my playlist and songs. It's a big compliment I'd it's on there. My most listened on there is Geoff's The Rains of Castamere. It's my relaxation song. Pay down, put my headphones on high, phone on high,, captions off, loop on. Sing Geoff over and over for several hours continuous.

So true, this one will probably always be my favorite of his covers, because I can listen to it every day. Don't think I've ever skipped it when it turned up on my playlist. It got kicked from the throne three times so far (by God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen, Shenandoah and Ain't No Sunshine, which I listened to on repeat when they got released), but only for a few days or weeks max, then it climbed back on it. I just love when he uses his whole range in a song singing the main melody and not only in the background.
