I'm a HUGE Elvis fan and I was so excited to hear that Geoff was going to be recording this. I'm chuckling at the visual of Geoff in a jumpsuit but I'm glad he didn't actually go that route. It was still a great homage to the King. Excellent timing with the movie coming out in 2 weeks.

I've been so looking forward to your reaction to this one and was not disappointed, thanks for the extra giggles! I think after the serious Big Bad John and melancholy Ain't no Sunshine, Geoff needed to have some fun and this was pure joy! I very much enjoyed the hip swivels, seductive looks straight to camera and the little butt wiggle but boy he sounded good! The high harmonies at the end were gorgeous and the low C1 at the end was insane! He said it took 80 takes to perfect it, now that's dedication to his art! 🙂👍

Just watched his Patrons-only BTS video. The antics he put on had everyone laughing. All those suggestive looks were aimed at Kathy. She was the one who toss him that mop. All the clone's nametags. Misty Mountains was great, but I like the cheekyness of this one better. I look forward to your opinion. (By the way, for Misty Mountains, Geoff didn’t just use the movie. He took extra lyrics from Tolkein’s books. ) Layne flew the steadycam for Geoff (as he does for Pattycake) and Eli did his lighting. This is the same Pattycake set used be VoicePlay for Friends on the Other Side. The BTS just came out on Patreon, and they had LOTS of fun making this. (Almost as much fun as we have watching.)

No retiring from KZbin! Geoff already joked about retiring after this. "Way Down" is favorite video, but "Shenandoah" is still #1 vocally. It's beautiful! I think this arrangement and performance is waaaaaayyyyy better than Elvis's version. Yeah, I said it and will stick by it. Kathy ended up cleaning that up. She is amazing! That last note was a flippin’ C1! He’s hit lower notes, but a nice, thick, C1 held. Wow. I’ve seen comments that he said it took 80 takes to get that, and while I think 80 might be an exaggeration, I’m sure it took quite a few before he hit and held a steady C1. So much fun! Loved this reaction-it’s SO fun to see male reactors when it gets to the butt wiggle! Lol. Loved that you had so much fun with this.

Great reaction! I love your channel. Don't delete anything! This song was Elvis' last recorded single before he died in 1977. Elvis was dear friends with J.D. Sumner, usually considered the greatest bass singer in gospel quartet history and J.D. provided the bass drops for the echo/background for Elvis on melody. Look up the wikipedia story for this Elvis song and you'll read how J.D. hit a double low C for the final note. Geoff of course wanted to not only cover Elvis but to cover J.D. Sumner and hit the double low C himself. I read from some insiders that Geoff recorded some 80 takes to hit that note and hold it the way he wanted it to come out.

In terms of just listening, my favorite non-seasonal Geoff cover is probably 16 Tons, or maybe Bare Necessities; but this new one may be my favorite Geoff solo _video_ to watch. I love how creative he got with the video on this one. My favorite thing with Geoff in it, is Hoist the Colours; though I anticipate that they're probably going to top it one of these days, probably sooner rather than later. The way they've been going, I suspect the next time they do a song that I'm already familiar with and like before they cover it, that'll likely be my new favorite.

All the name tags are different spelling of Geoff. One of the alt-Geoff's was eating popcorn out of the dustbin and the other one licked the toilet brush. I have heard that the low C1 last note was a chest note. It took 80 takes to get the C1 Geoff wanted.

In response to your comment regarding covid, you should get tested so you know for sure..been there..had covid pneumonia last year..in the hospital 9 days with it..came home and developed foot drop..had it for almost a year before it resolved..we worry about you..you have been fighting this for a while..get tested please..at least you'll know one way or the other💖

Yes, get tested. There are medications to help you through it so you don’t develop the worst of the complications. I got Covid in January 2020 and I am still suffering side effects. I ended up in ICU for two weeks and at one point had to sign a DNR (do not resuscitate) because my next step was being intubated and I refused (I’m old and already had COPD, so not a good bet). This is nothing to fool with. I don’t wanna be a downer but Gawd, I do not want to see you disappear because you didn’t get tested and didn’t get the appropriate medical care. Please, if you don’t do it for yourself, do it for your family. And that includes us as part of that family
