Its a nice town. I went there once to pay a ticket for my company as a trucker. The registration I was carrying, was for a different truck with a different VIN number. It happened at a DOT inspection checkpoint on the Thruway. Anyway it was like a kangaroo court. Everyone there was a truck driver, and the same state trooper who ticketed me was the guy you made the plea deal with, not a prosecutor. It was like a $50 dollar fine, and I had to drive 2 hours to get there. It was mandatory to appear. My company had to pay me for all that time though.

They have the Horse shows there in the summer HITS but as a horse owner they are the worst town to be in. The merchants dont really like the horse show or the people or care about it. Try to find a laundry place that will let you wash the horse blankets is impossible. They even post on the windows of laundromats no horse blankets......The reason the show moved from ellenville to saugerties was the owner was given a huge tax break to go there. He lives right down the road from the facility

Perhaps the HITS people should provide the laundry facilities for the horse blankets. People don't want to share the washing machines with smelly horse blankets. And if it's not a great experience for the horse owners, I'm sure they would stop attending and it would go away. I live in the general area and I personally am not bothered by it one way or the other. And I do agree that most towns play favoritism due to personal friendships and or business relationships. And it's not always fair.
