Wow... Soundwave was actually expressive in the Japanese dub. In the original English, he was basically a machine.

Thank you! i was actually writing a video on the changes of his vocoder. it changed by episode 24, and would stay like that untill production of The Headmasters, where they gave him a voice closer to what Destrons usually sound like. The movie was recorded in 1988/1989 and that was closer to the first 24 episodes type. Episodes dubbed in 1993 (64 & 65) had a different effect as well. 24 & upuntill 2010 sounds very unstable, which makes me think Takara perhaps used poor tapes, and stability of the carrier signal was poor.
