Tolkien said little of his terrible form, armor, weapon(s), etc.; all we clearly have is a watercolor painting by the author. The spiky full armor and mace was artistic freedom for Jackson and crew. We know Sauron has black body, hot hands, yellow eyes with black slit pupils, "royal" posture...

This is one of the primary reasons i love these movies. The darkness of and power of the villain really cant match the vibe of any other villain in cinema history (my opinion). Plus THIS THEME MAKES IT SO MUCH BETTER IT FEELS LIKE SAURON HAS RETURNED TO FIGHT AGAIN

i dont know why, but i think the main basis in the begging resemples me some ARABIC themes for nocturnal or for serpents/naja moviments, elevating, getting down, elevating again, with a transversal moviment (as a bishop in chess). I don't know if it was proposital, probably not. In the original the rhyme is more sparse/far-between notes, there is not the same effect. I also liked that the actor always walk very slow, curved himself over others very subtle, snake-alike too.
