I am back in Kerala after 7 years stay in USA. What a life in Kerala, America is so boring we were doin same boxife again and again . Patel, stop and ahop, cosco, frozen food and vegetables , wheeevwr you go same pizza , sandwich, burger .. only positive visited almost all states and national parks , that’s the only motivating factor.

Bro, you are exactly right. We lived 22 years in UK and Australia ,returned back with uk born teenage children nine months ago. It was only possible because we never took any loan or mortgage in our life or never had a credit card in hand. Saved well and financially very stable now. Kids are in uni and school. Ok with their studies. Husband has a successfull business.Not sure how long we can manage. Still holding our Ausie citizenship and I still have my RN registration. But we like the peaceful life here than abroad. So I think with present situation of all western countries including USA facing financial crisis and India is booming up ,it was a good decision for our childrens future.

I dont think so .rt now i am in kottayam after 19 years of my american(chicago) life.I am 46 year old and I didn't feel any issues in kerala now.me and my wife used to working as a dialysis nurses and loosing huge amount of salary every month.but still we are so happy with our indian life .I have 3 kids.they are studying in 6th,4th and 1st grade.they never say they need to go back to america. India is change lot.I think we will get everything in india like america .only one think we need money...

My parents went to Singapore in the 60s and I was born there. My dad is in his 90s and doesn't want to go to India. But during my trips to India as A child,I loved India and wanted to relocate as an adult. I hated Singapore culture of overwork and stress and running after the almighty dollar. But i did not leave until my son started school and then chose Canada for his education. When i realised the vulgarity in the education system there and the alphabet soup agenda, we finally left for Kerala. It's been 8 years now. We are staying put to live and die in our ancestors land.😊

@@jlo7204 I am probably the last person anyone should ask for financial advice. You can live with just 15k per month or 50k per month. That's the choice you have to make. You have to be hands on and do most things yourself. I relied on agents recommended by my bank who were professional. Relatives may try to cheat. I commend you for choosing to buy land for farming. I bought 10 cents land in trivandrum city. I listened to the advice of some relatives who discouraged me from buying in rural areas. I wish I had bought elsewhere and acquired more land. Having said that I managed to plant fruit trees like papaya and regularly harvest coconuts which I sell. Growing up in Singapore and never having done farm work it is an uphill task but delightful. Cost of living is low if you are wise and humble. Keralites love to take loans and show off to others. If you don't allow yourself to be influenced by these people, you can make it here. Be strong and stick to your values. I had to pay for my own university education in Singapore and pay rent to stay in my parents house before I moved out. So I don't spend a lot but due to the low cost here we still eat international food like sticky rice locally grown . We have lost a lot of our Indian culture by being overseas. Even our stomach can't hand the rice here. But if I didn't make this move now, we would have lost the little we have. My parents and siblings hate India and are already ashamed to be called Indians. Its too late for them.

​@@jlo7204I commend you for trying to acquire land for farming. Agricultural land can only be bought by citizens of India. Most residential land is arable so you can consider that as an alternative. Go through a lawyer for purchase of land as there are many obstacles and fraud going on. For house construction you should check with reputable contractors who will build in the chosen area. As for cost of land and house, it is wide ranging and depends on locality. Its better to have fully paid up assets in this current time so budget accordingly and avoid loans. Use contacts from banks for recommendations to get started. AVG monthly expenditure can vary from 15k to 50k if you live closer to the city. People here are always looking to go overseas so they may see you as a failure for coming back. You have to be strong to overcome this. My faith in God helped me through all this.

One of the good things you have said is regarding the noise pollution from the religious institutions. We are suffering from noise pollution from our temple heavily in the mornings. Tried to convince them to stop the same but didn't work. So it has been complained about at the district magistrate palakkad district to stop the noise pollution mentioned.
