Just got this for $249 after rebate. Shoots 1/2 inch 3 shot groups back to back, 100 yards, using a $130 Nikon Buckmaster II 4x12 scope with $9 rings, on a harris bipod Can't complain about that.

I had a Savage Axis in 243 for a couple of years before selling it to a guy who was having problems with feral goats on his farm. It was very accurate with handloads (sub-MOA with 80gr projectiles and 37gr AR2206H - I think the US equivalent powder is Hodgdon H4895. Have been thinking about getting an Axis II in 223 as it's a particularly nice and cheap round for shooting targets virtually all day long. Like the style of your clip; very straightforward, respectful and honest - looking forward to more.

Oldfart2225 Thanks for the comments,I appreciate it! I have a few savage products and find them to be great quality for the price. I was out the other day with the axis and really enjoy shooting it, and the .223 round you can shoot all day. Thanks again!

Nice video. I opened our local Idaho Falls Idaho paper this morning and saw that they had these Axis II rifles on sale with a $50 mail in rebate for $249 (after the rebate). I couldn't help myself. Like I needed another gun. Bought the 223 in this rifle and this brand only because I just bought a Savage 9317 in 17HMR and it was a tack driver with right out of the box. Sub minute groups at 100. I couldn't believe it. Dialed it in in four groups. Thanks for the affirmation.

Great review, I have been looking for a review on the Axis from a "direct from the box" point of view for a while now and I finally found one! I recently just bought an Axis 2 with a bull barrel and Accu trigger in .223 and while I haven't been able to practice with it your review makes me think I picked the right gun! I subscribed, I think you should have a lot more followers as your videos get right to the point and are well made! Thanks for the great review.

Carl, this 'real' un-boxing good quality video and your reply to 'Local-Yokel' are the things that made me decide to subscribe . Also, the fact that you're in Canada and a customer of Bulls Eye Sports, tell's me that this is a channel that I am going to watch. I have dealt with Scott and his guys there, and always recommend them to my buddies . So let's see how you go from here. Cheers!

Thanks for that Reg!!! The concept of our show is quite simple, that is to help people get outdoors! It doesn't matter what you do, just that you will experience it participating in your preferred activity. Scott and the guys at Bullseye are great and very knowledgeable and I never miss an opportunity to mention them or include them in our videos. In fact, we have two new videos that are about IDPA/IPSC and how to properly grip a firearm coming out soon that features both Scott and Ken. Thanks for watching and please share our channel with your friends! Don't forget to Keep it Real! Thanks again!

+Tony Briggs I've had one for a year and it just gets to be a better shooter than I am capable of. I got mine in the States from Bud's Gun Shop online, at a decent price. For fun once I took it to a long range area with steel gongs every 100 yds out to 1000yds. Never shot that long of a range before this...was able to keep on the steel out to 600 and saw the 800 & 900 fall short but just couldn't find the gongs with the stock scope on it. It's a fine shooting gun at an excellent value.

how is this for as far as barrel heat effecting the point of impact after sustained shooting? im not a hunter, im just looking for a good first bolt action rifle to use at a range that isnt going to be super expencive. not trying to break any speed records, just a casual day hitting some targets
@TheRealOutdoorExperience
@TheRealOutdoorExperience 8 жыл бұрын
+Ryan Stetson Hey Ryan, thanks for watching! I am not really able to comment on this as I am a hunter and target shoot to make sure I am properly sighted in. With the shots that I have take with this rifle, it stays accurate, mind you I am not putting a ton of shots down range. I would shoot an average of 10-20 shots each time I have it out but I have not noticed any issues. Sorry I could not provide better info! Keep it Real! Carlin
@Oldfart2225
@Oldfart2225 8 жыл бұрын
+Ryan Stetson Hi Ryan. I've shot a .243 Axis on a similar basis. On most days I could shoot 6 to 8 rounds before it got hot and started to lose a little accuracy. Would leave it for a few minutes until the barrel went from hot to warm, then shoot 3 or 4 more, and repeat. In winter (around 10-15C or 50-65F around Sydney) the wait time is only a couple of minutes. In summer (35-40C or 95-105F) it might be as much as 10 or 15 minutes with no breeze. I now have a 223 Howa (also a nice economy rifle) and it is about the same, maybe a bit quicker to cool. My understanding is the heavier varmint barrels available on some rifles are less affected.

Hello, would this rifle be a good option for plinking at 200-300 meters ? I know this rifle is aimed at hunting, but my interest would be for a nice medium plinkster rifle. Thanks!
@TheRealOutdoorExperience
@TheRealOutdoorExperience 8 жыл бұрын
Thanks for watching and the question! It really depends on what you are looking for. The .223 is great for hunting in the 100-300 yd range, smaller game. I have heard many people using it to shoot out to 1000 yards after tuning the ammo, matching optics etc. If you want a decent, economical gun to hit gongs at 300 yds, that you can shoot all day, this is the one. Like I said in the review, this gun was easy to set up and fun to shoot. Have fun out there and don't forget...Keep it Real!

This comes with the scope and bipod? This is a no-brainer. I want one!! I have hand loaded all my ammo since I was 14 (under strict adult supervision), and I wonder if you reload?? If you do, I will bet, with some experimentation (and that's great fun to me), you will certainly come up with loads that will go into an inch or less. With practice, I bet you can come up with a load that'll average 1/2" at 100 yards. I"m going to get a price on one of these just like yours. Seems like a bargain.

+Jon Neet Hi Jon, Unfortunately it doesn't come with the tripod but does come with a scope. I have really enjoyed shooting this gun. I don't reload but I do experiment with different brands of ammo to find the one that works best. I am sure that if you do reload, you could dial it in really tight! I hope you enjoy this gun the way I do! Thanks for watching and Keep it Real! Carlin

Well, we used to hand weigh the powder in every round with a powder scale. I think that helped.
@dccmadams44
@dccmadams44 7 жыл бұрын
I am just using a cheap lee powder throw, about 27 gr of CF223 powder with 55gr Hornady boattail bulk bullets, mixed brass. Getting a 3 shot, 1/2 group at 100 yards after sighting it in. This can be easily duplicated. No need to hand weigh every powder load unless you are a professional match shooter.

wheelinken its a 9"-13" champion bipod, it is sturdy and reasonably priced. If you are in Canada, Canadian Tire sells them. There are so many types and brands, I am sure that most will fit fine. This version attaches to the strap stud. Hope this helps, thanks for watching!
