The drummer, Alex Riel, passed away yesterday morning, June 9th. 2024. Thank you for what you and Savage Rose created, music that lives forever.

Wow what a strange co- incidence I just heard this now on June 11 2024. What is the singer Annisette doing now? Is she still singing in a band? Where is this band from anyone know?
@DrawsACircle7 ай бұрын
She’s still going strong @@michaelcraig9449, playing concerts. She turned 75 in August last year. Savage Rose is a Danish band, I don’t know if you can see it, do a search for “Rebel for livet”, it’s a documentary about Savage Rose made by Denmarks Radio (television). It might not be available outside Denmark/with subtitles.

@@michaelcraig9449Hey Michael. The band is Danish, though I seem to recall Thomas and Annisette living abroad for many years. I also seem to recall her moving back to Denmark after his death, as she resides here now. She's still very much active not only with her band and music, but also with her activism, which includes solidarity concerts to bring awareness to the plight of oppressed peoples, as well as to other global issues such as global warming or war. If there is a protest going on in Copenhagen against some sort of obvious injustice, you'll find her there. She's one of those people where personally, I think she'll be marching for peace and in solidarity until she drops dead... and that is a glorious thing!

I saw them in August 1968 during my holidays on the island of Bornholm at the age of 16. It was a wonderful concert and the warm up band Moneymakers was also great. I never forget this exciting evening with Savage Rose (I still have the newspaper cut with the report on that evening saying "Anisette - en vild rose")

thank you Jim ! i've been racking my brains and distant musical memories for a link...You are just about correct here. It definitely ressembles You Only Live Twice. But her's is much more subtle. Still have a strange feeling she borrowed the couplets' melody from some Serge Gainsbourg song. He was famous for meandering minor mode melodies charged with quizzical lyrics. Anyway....i'm still hunting. The other one melody that still haunts me is Evening's Child. ( Imagine ! even Robert Christgau couldn't trace those two songs to their roots ) Cheers !

The Savage Rose actually gained some popularity in the States in the 60s, however, I seem to recall learning that they became ostracized for their very obvious anti war statements at the time, limiting their progression there. The US wasn't ready for them then, aren't ready for them now, and by the looks of things, probably won't be for the next 200 years!
