Agreed. I don't think Savage Sword has reached the level of titans colour comic yet. I hated the Dragon Horde in the first issue though. That fuckin dinosaur!!! I loved the main story in the 2nd issue (Jim Zub) but wasn't keen on the art. Jim's just such a good writer that I feel that the other writers on the main stories don't quite get the character the same way Jim does, or Kurt Busiek or even Roy Thomas. Having said that, Im still very thankful for Savage Sword and I'm gonna keep my fingers crossed that issue 4 is gonna be a corker! (as we say in the UK)

I always hated when someone confuses the Hyborian age with the Medieval Ages ... Like seriously ... there is ONLY around 11 000 years difference between the two. There was a recent Conan comic by Marvel where one of Conan's pirates had a flintlock pistol in his belt .... 🥴A fricken 18 century firearm ... 🤦♂Things like that drive me insane!

Oh yes, the fabled flintlock pistol was from Marvel's last Savage Sword of Conan run. Issue #2. I spotted it immediately and was done with the story. Dealbreaker and a clear telling sign the artist did not care for the franchise he's working on.

@@EternalCrusader-it1jn Absolutely... When you think about it, a smartphone is closer to Ancient Egypt than a flintlock pistol is to Conan's age ... I mean sure it's fantasy, there could be creative freedom, however when you work on a well established franchise, details matter. A lot!

No mention of the novel excerpt or the interview with the author? I thought those helped fill the issue out pretty well.

I read the novel already before this issue arrived, there will be another review for that. Check out our review of Hocking's Black Starlight.

Honestly, I can't say any of the issues you mentioned really popped out to me but I get why you didn't like the story.

Fair game. We thought "Leaving the Garden" was one of the most mature and serious Conan stories out there.

I hate to say this but Savage Sword has been the weakest link in Titan's otherwise excellent Conan revival. The simplistic sparse dialogue, the predictable short story and that terrible "Just no" ending is so out of character. Dumb millennial humor doesn't belong in these books. I hope they can deliver something deeper in the future from people that actually understand this character.

Agreed. The storytelling in #3 was the weakest part. We loved Zircher's take on Kane tho.
