@dougrobinson86022 жыл бұрын
I'd contend that the lack of front seat massagers is an even bigger deal breaker. I don't know what the buyer demographics are for this thing, but I'd guess that it's double income no kids. Maybe they get used as family haulers, but if that were the customer base, I'd expect Lexus would have made it more kid friendly. Lexus listens to customers, unlike BMW. Also unlike BMW, Lexus respects the hardcore "Lexus or nothing" early adopter. BMW has almost completely abandoned the owners who bought them in the '70's when they were a boutique brand for enthusiasts. I'm one of those BMW guys, and apart from the M2 CS, (which is basically unobtainium) they've got nothing that even remotely interests me.

I made the comment to the salesman the secondary screen appeared to be an after thought. Overall though, I really enjoyed the ride quality of it. In a bizarre way, I felt it was a splendid combination of my LC500 and my 10 year old 200 Series Land Cruiser that this would be replacing. Great review, interesting the point made a few times about some brands making disposable vehicles. A video comparing build quality, price and buyer would be interesting. If you sit in a 2010 Lexus LX everything is tight and more importantly functions as intended even at 200,000 miles and several owners. A 2010 Escalade not only feels really cheap with creaks, rattles etc, but will most certainly be falling apart at 200,000 miles. I feel the same about a 2022 Escalade, although the Lexus is more modest the Escalade will feel dated/cheap in 2032. .

Really good, fair review. I share a lot of the same concerns. I have the 2016 model, and it's tough as nails, yet supremely luxurious. The European options aren't even close when it comes to durability and resale value. I wished they would have done more to update the LX600 (panoramic sunroof, power rear sunshades, fully adjustable rear seats), and I don't see any value in upgrading my current model with this one. The biggest flaw in the 2022 LX is that it will be a very low distribution model unlike the 80, 100, and 200 series Land Cruisers and LXs. Toyota might sell a couple thousand a year. Instead of being a vibrant parts market, after a few years parts will be impossible to find.

A lot of people put too much stock in Lexus' build quality as the primary driving factor for why their vehicles are so reliable. This is only partly true. They use old tech/drivetrains for 10-15 years longer than the competition and that's why they're so reliable. Their fit and finish is absolutely top notch, however when they come out with a new model every 15-20 years they will absolutely have the same growing pains as any other manufacturer and we're seeing it already with the Tundra. Experienced car buyers know not to buy a new vehicle on it's year of release- it doesn't matter who made it.

I own a 2013 Land Cruiser, which I do take off-road. I'm very disappointed in Toyota, first for canceling the Land Cruiser in the US, and second for this vehicle. The grille on the LX is simply hideous and it greatly compromises approach angle. As you have pointed out, the dash and center stack is simply a hot mess. I'm glad that Toyota has finally realized that support for CarPlay and Android Auto is a requirement, but what the heck happened to their interior design department? While I would not buy a first year example, I'm not all that concerned about the move from the V8 to a twin-turbo. I'm confident that Toyota will get that right. Fuel economy on the V8 is absurdly bad (I get 14.5 mpg overall, 12-13 in the city) and Toyota had to address that. Even a few mpg better is a significant improvement. Yes, I can afford the fuel cost, but it is still hard to justify using that much fuel when competitive trucks are significantly better.
