ATOM I totally agree, the whole band is fantastic !!! and finally a band of females that are brilliant. I love them xx
@3ADWOLF7 жыл бұрын
@100965806638270715052 they are a great example that young female musicians don't have to go down the mainstream route. To be honest though there are quite a few female bands or bands fronted by females around today that are making great music such as Warpaint, Wolf Alice and Honeyblood just to name a few.
@ChrisR_687 жыл бұрын
Hi yh I totally agree, oh right I shall check them out cheers, I think I've heard of warpaint.the amount of music I have and I'm a huge music fan, sometimes bands slip through ya fingers if ya know what I mean,I always think, there must be thousands of bands out there that I've not even listened too. My Son is a guitarist and he is not mainstream, never lol ;)
@ChrisR_687 жыл бұрын
Have you heard Courtenay Barnett ? She is brilliant its like her singing and playing guitar and 2 males one drummer and one bass player. I love Anna Calvi too
@3ADWOLF7 жыл бұрын
Christine Robinson It's easily done these days due to there being so much music around and unless we go out looking for it it will most likely bypass us unfortunately. Yes i've heard of Courtney Barnett and Anna Calvi, i haven't heard much from Clavi recently though. Lianne La Havas is a very talented musician and song writer and a new band i've recently discovered called Dark Bells have a great sound too.

I witnessed dozens of acts at music festivals and concerts this summer. Savages blew them all out of the water handily. If one hasn't seen them live on their current tour, one has no business weighing in, obviously. You can't replicate the live experience through a KZbin video, even a live recording. You have to be in the middle of it. The noise has to vibrate in your gut. You have to be surrounded by sweaty humans and fog and light.
@electrafix8 жыл бұрын
Thank you for corroborating! Like you, I saw a lot of bands this year and Savages were operating on another level from the rest. I ended up going to six of their shows in both gigantic and tiny venues and after every performance the crowd was a delirious, stunned mass muttering about it being the best concert they'd ever attended.

Siouxsie ? I don't know, the singer claims she's a big fan of female singer where you can't tell if it's a man or a woman singing, like Nina Simone. And she's defintely has achieved that, I discovered them with "She Will" and always thought it was a man singing. Quite different from Siouxsie, who has clearly a feminine voice. But Joy Division yeah definitely. I just hope they don't turn into a maintstream rock band with all the success they have. Their second album is already a bit dialed down compared to the first one, which is a shame. Hope they bounce back.
@ChrisR_687 жыл бұрын
Nicolas Bertin I love both of their albums tbh. I just think the 2nd album 'Adore life' is their growth as a band, sounding a little more mature, of course I can't see them ever going mainstream because its not what the band is about but I've got to say I hope they don't go too mainstream. but I can't see it :)

I used to follow bands around when I was a youngster.... There were three fellow veterans at their Copenhagen gig earlier this year and we all agreed that if we still followed bands around, Savages would be the band we'd follow. So Cora... tell me about the band following scene with younger bands. I hope you have as much fun as we used to. We were all trying to be the Bromley Contingent in those days. What's it like now?

i know I'm way late to the party here... but I just stumbled upon these women and now I cannot stop listening to their albums. I understand the sonic comparisons to Joy Division and Siouxsie, but frankly they are insufficient to the power and intensity these women bring. I also find Savages to be far better musicians than those other bands. There intensity reminds me of Tool. I hope they come back together and record some more music.

Everyone is inspired by David Bowie. I'm seeing more Banshees and Bauhaus than Bowie though. Not that that's a bad thing.
@sangfroid43768 жыл бұрын
whssy Absolutes can be a tricky thing in that there is usually an exception lurking about somewhere. Bruce Springsteen was far from impressed with Bowie's cover of his "Saint in the City". I met Bowie on several occasions and can honestly say I was far more impressed with the characters he portrayed on stage than I was with the man himself. This isn't meant as a slight to the Thin White Duke but a comment on artists, often their work outshines their person. I quite like Siouxie but don't really see her here she never had to break a sweat to achieve the intensity this band aspires to, but I'm with you on the Bauhaus reference. Cheers
