I've raised one from a hatchling 3 years ago. I still have him. You have to be on top of every little thing. It's a hard species to keep, but it's a very fruitful experience.

I got a savanna monitor from you guys couple weeks ago on Sunday at the reptile expo in Anaheim and he’s doing very well he’s pretty chill but every now and then he will jump and go hide somewhere and I have to try to get him out of the corner then he tries to bite me

Don’t ever force him to be held or force interactions.

Leave him be let him adapt. Only socializing he needs in the beginning is just feeding. U will stress him out and he will always look at u as a threat if u continue.

How do you prevent them from getting fat when they grow up? I had one and got really fat. I did not like that

My baby savanna is hissy, I’ve tried to calm him/her down but it doesn’t really help. I try not to put my hand in the enclosure, but I got to change the water

You have to socialize it asap or else it will not be a huggable and will end up defensive as an adult

Sometimes you just have to handle them whether they like it or not, eventually they’ll realize that you won’t hurt them and will come around.

No but It'll need a proper indoor setup. I also suggest you have a backup option for heat or a place to take it if your power or furnace goes out in winter.
