You're right on time. I've just bought the Studio version today. Thanks for showing the result of pre-rendered velocity slowing. I tried all available algorithms in "Retime and Scaling" in the free version and was not satisfied with result. Also, you've just reminded about the Super Scale option. I completely forgot about it, but this is exactly what I need for upcoming video editing. Also love the tip about a flare fixes overexposure

Soooo true - I have found that getting more facile in Resolve can make my iPhone footage look as good as higher end equipment with ease- recording to an SSD in ProRes LT gives Resolve the data it needs to work on. Defocus effect, motion blur (so you don't need ND filters!) and the Dehance plugin completes the package. On the new MacMini M4Pro the speed of Resolve is amazing.

Don't have to use Render in Place every time. Just Smart Cache is enough to have a normal smooth playback.
@pascalbasel10 күн бұрын
Yeah, it just fills the hard drive up in an uncontrolled way. So I prefer Render in Place. But both works 👍🏻

Are you editing h265? I’m using a silicon macbook so it edits fine but when I try a heavier process like enhanced optical flow, I have to resort to render cache. I’m thinking about working with prores proxy at quarter resolution to see if I can edit without anything bogging down.
@pascalbasel8 күн бұрын
All H265, optical flow enhanced is not about the codec but neural engine and graphics. That will always lag.

"I'm on an M3 Mac, so that's already slow" 🤣 That is not slow at all! I'm on an M1 Mac…

why would you add flares? you lost me. i work very hard to avoid flares as much as i can, to the point that i will eliminate shots or shoot them later to get rid of nasty flares. just my taste, but there it is.
@pascalbasel9 күн бұрын
I love flares and it certainly looks better than burned out parts in the sky.
@exshenanigan23338 күн бұрын
Flares are love bro. I’m not telling you to go get them intentionally like I do but maybe relax a little bit when you get some natural flares and enjoy the nature’s/environment’s contribution to the work.
@jadefinchscene56447 күн бұрын
@@exshenanigan2333 oh i think they are cool looking, i just also think they completely ruin the shot. i toss them on the cutting room floor and never look back.

Digital replication is never as good as on set. It’s nice and may work in a pinch but you should never rely on the digital counterpart
