SAVE BROKEN STEMS: A very short guide to healing seedlings

I accidentally broke the stem of my leggy Cranberry Hibiscus (acetosella hibiscus) seedling by knocking its pot off my shelf. I really thought it was a goner, it was bent clear in half. It looked like a hockey stick when I picked it up.
I managed to save the bent seedling though by making sure it was watered well and propping it up. In the video I offer some advice on how to save seedlings with broken stems. It is possible, don't lose hope!

I used large plastic straws split all the way up the side to hold up a few weak seedlings and it worked great.

I did this to a cookies kush plant with a cut in half toilet paper tube.worked nice no stress.

I stepped outside and saw 5 of my 7 morning glories were bent. Wasn't sure if I could fix it and was ready to get rid of them. Glad I looked into it. Gonna run and pick up some tape now.

Oh no! Yeah they should be okay/repair themselves. If it was the wind that bent them, maybe there’s a way to block some of it?

Awesome and thank you so much! I just accidentally stepped on a pot with some zinnia seedlings with true leaves and bent at least a few of them or so ....I would have hated to have wasted all of that time and energy and now not have zinnias as tee staple for our butterfuly garden. I will try this.

Never even heard of this hibiscus variety! Yo don't beat yourself up over it, it happens to the best of us! Thankfully it was a kink and not a crack, those are really difficult to remedy

I once broke my seedling when watering it so what I did was I used a little piece of electrical tape to hold the broken stem together and I took a little stick to stand the plant up and in about 2 weeks the plant grew a little bit and the stem was healed 🪴🌱😁
