As a plumber with 35 years experience I would strongly advise against this sort of fixing. Not only does it look very rough it also weakens the wall of the pipe. Do it right and use the cheap elbow fittings. It will save you time in the long run.

It is not practical. It consumes time, which costs more than the materials. Also, it is too risky to cause leakage. Quality + manpower time vs little save in materials. Not worth it .. dump idea

Well maybe in desperation and possibly temporarily. We tend to think in terms of being able to afford everything and have easy access to supplies but this is an Asian country where that is not so easy, and if for example you were out in the countryside.

@@thechallengedwoodworker5283 You are making pretty big ASSumptions, sometimes people have pipe but not fittings that may be god only knows how many miles away and need to a get job done. Those fittings are incredibly loose as well. It's not necessarily silly... I've lived in Asia and one of the things I could appreciate is the creative ingenuity that the Asians have about a lot of things we take for granted going to the store to buy, which brings up another obstacle is actually having CASH to buy fittings with.

Heating up ANY material compromises its structural integrity...especially PLASTIC! Don't believe me then look it up yourself. Those elbows are loose because the dude has the WRONG SIZE fittings...But you knew that right? He's is attempting to validate a wrong and dangerous method for others to try and end up with a flood. I'm sure you would feel safe and accomplished if you piped your home this way. Better off using a garden hose for this job....oh wait let me guess...he doesn't have that either...hmmmmmmm.

Jason, actually, that is a very VERY poor idea! There are several problems with this idea that many if not most people do not realize. First, heating and bending the plastic pipe WEAKENS the walls of the pipe. This will cause premature failures in the future. Secondly, those kinks at the bends will cause vortexes in the water flow as well and inhibit good flow. Elbows are not expensive at all. If you have to spend $4 to $8 to do it right, why not do it right to begin with> Also, this video is totally moot! Why would anyone put a pipe across the floor, only to dip it down into a trench like that. Either the pipe is below the floor or it's not. Just follow the contour. In other words, Jason, this is a bad BAD idea! That being said, if using copper tubing (on the roll) and using a proper mechanical bender tool, then this can be done without heat and without crimps.

bending pipes work on electrical application because the pipes act as an insulation for wires, it isn't in constant pressure. Water lines however always has pressure in them that's why the pipes and connection should be strong that's why the pipes used for water lines are thicker than those used for electrical purposes.

As a plumber the reason this is not used is due to manufacturers installation instructions. This is not an approved repair. Also the bends are not smooth and would cause water turbulence in the pipe. The 90s are approved and far simpler for installation.

It's nice to use lateral thinking to solve a problem, and good job on that first bend, but if I had that installed on my property, I would be furious. Putting aside the valid concerns everyone has stated about thermal treatment like that weakening the mechanical properties of the pipe, those kinks would guarantee they will be the point of failure. Were I to see that on a job I was supervising, I would get a doublejack and mangle those pipes an obscene distance back and say "fix it." That was how l was taught to show that shortcuts are a bad idea. It's cruel and mean spirited, but it works. You get paid to do it right, and you get paid to correct yourself once. After that, you can go kick road apples.

This will eventually be a plumbing standard for all fields. Flow, parts cost, labor intensive. Only concern is compromising the thickness of the sidewall, which can be solved by creating specific PVC / PEX piping designed to handle the task along side a new solvent tasked with reenforing and bonding the sidewall to compensate the loss of thickeness.

If the pipes already above-ground why not just keep going straight across? What is the purpose adding four 90° couplers to a pipe that could be perfectly straight? Ooh I get it, he wants to increase back pressure to increase the amperage so it cost more to run the pump and overtime will shorten the life of the motor. Oh I get it it's job security so the customer will call him back out to fix the ruptured pipe. That makes sense 😂

It is good that you have problem solving skills. However, heating and bending can seriously weaken material’s mechanical properties. You might mitigate this by inserting a larger thickness pipe for bending just to compensate the weakness generated by heating and bending. But then higher costs must be considered due to the increase in thickness. I’m sure you can figure out the optimum point.

If you want professional looking plumbing, don't do this, BUT! If you are miles from any hardware and are desperate to get a water pipe connected and do not have the parts on hand, then this is your go to bush plumbing. 20 years of plumbing in both city and country area Australia, and when outback where your closest hardware is 50+ kms away, you do not have hours to spend "Driving down the road". Yes it is ugly, crude and it might fail if left for years but it will get you out of trouble as a temp fix.

if water is Calcareous water after bending pipe it will form thickness on the wall of the pipe and lead to choke it,, Plus heating and bending will weakens the wall of the pipe ,
