Thanks a lot for this. This was the single reason why I didn't want to give up my Multi-track recorder, as I could mix-down on the fly organically with feeling/listening rather than doing it analytically on the PC. Multi-track is now for sale ...

Its a handy feature, great for making an on the fly mix or arrangement. Just make sure your not overloading your cpu with too many plugins because you will get glitches.

Is there a way of changing the silently increment filenames suffix?

*I used this feature once, with mp3 as file format, then Reaper crashed after 7 minutes of live performance. But it recorded up to that point and the file was playable.*

Interesting and great tutorial as always Kenny, but from a music mixing perspective how can this help us?

Let's say you want to make a rough mix of your song by moving the faders live. But you don't want to take the time to record automation first. You just want to quickly bounce the track and perform a few simple things. Like ride the vocal. Mute a few sections along the way. This is a quick way of creating that mix live.

@@REAPERMania Interesting so like a tester mix? I see this coming in handy for tricky volume balancing, maybe moving things around, noting levels, til things sit right. Cool!

It can help make a more dynamic arrangement on the fly is one usecase.

I can see this being useful in the studio, where you have your mix going into Reaper from a board (your faders are your sends into Reaper) and you are doing the live bounce while recording the individual tracks. I mean, I hope that works, I haven't tried myself. Normally I'd add everything to a mix buss folder or just send it to a buss in Reaper, and then select to record the output of that buss/folder track. This would take care of that automatically, in theory, so I have a mix ready for the artists in MP3 or whatever right after we track each take of each song for them to hear the rough studio mix on the drive home or whatever.

Hello Kenny, we're working on a live stream gig tonight. We would like to record our multitrack and send a stereo master channel. We have two problems : Soloing tracks for monitoring purpose during the gig without affecting the master send channel (same as with a live console). Recording multitracks without "printing" the fx on it so we can work on it later. We have enough hardware outputs to do what we want. This is not the solution here, but can it be part of it? Thank you.

Недостаток в том что на Windows нельзя сохранить в m4a. На Mac можно.
