Great tip! We can even lay the pieces out on the table and measure it without fabric. Having a gridded cutting surface makes it easier.

Fantastic tip. I never would have thought to layout a pattern before ordering a fabric. Another tip is to color block patterns if you have leftover or small pieces from past projects rather than buying more fabric. Sometimes places will give you remnant or whatever is left on the bolt and that’s what I do with that.
