It's hard to express how happy this video made me. Not only have you verified that I'm on the right track with my character arc but I now know how to handle the missing pieces of the mystery that goes with it. Nice Job, and thanks to Reedsy for finding you.

This is absolutely excellent content. Understanding story structure doesn't mean it has to be rigid and painted like a paint by numbers, it gives you the poles that you raise your tent over. Whether its a square tent, round, has 2 rooms, has windows or not doesn't really matter. The poles will be somewhat different, but if you have no idea how tent poles work or that you even need pols, you certainly aren't going to end up with a tent at the end.

This is not new content for me, and I have studied it in various ways, but Jessica's explanation demonstrates how she has internalized this. Clear and useful explanations. Thanks.

Loved this so much. Jessica Brody really did an excellent job making her audience understand how to utilize Save the Cat. She gave great examples that are really easy to apply to our own writing. They want to read an act 1 hero in an act 2 world.

Excellent overview of Save the Cat. So concise, organized and well articulated. You've provided a profoundly helpful tool for any stage of writing novels or screenplays -- really any format -- from early planning to writing to editing and rewriting. I'm looking forward to your seminar.

Is there a version of this that resembles the opening analysis that you did? Plain, writerly English that describes all the Blake Snyder jargon - without the jargon. For example - Life Changing Event instead of Catalyst. Hero Tries Something New instead of Break into 2. Popes in Pools and the like leaves me cold and uninspired.
