Yes! The theater group I belonged to did this musical just before I joined them. I was 15. This transfixed me! I had never heard anything like it. I must've played this hundreds and hundreds of times.

Agreed - While some would have said that G0Dspell and J3sus Chr1st Super Star had an agenda, I can assure you that in my case, J3sus used this to draw me to him. The overall effect was for the kingd0m, something of which is the reason that they don't allow this anymore. J3sus > one and only way!

My dad was a high school teacher and the director of all of the plays and musicals. I was in many of his plays and it was the best time of my life singing these songs. At 56 yrs old I wish I could join a cast of this production just to sing these songs with others again. It was the best time of my life.

I did Godspell in my Senior Year in College- this was back in 1992, and I loved it! Before that, a dear friend of mine played Jesus in 2 productions of Godspell- he did really well in both and encouraged me to try doing it myself when the opportunity arose. Steve passed away in 2020 and I always think of him especially whenever I hear this song. May you Rest In Peace and Power Steve!😢❤

I was in elementary school when this movie came out. I remember some teens playing the movie's songs on their guitars. I felt closer to God watching movies like Godspell and Jesus Christ Super Star than I ever did attending a church. These types of movies were more appealing to children because of the music and the modernized characters.

I saw this on stage in SF in 1973 and I think Victor Gerber was playing Jesus, if memory serves.

He played Jesus in the film version, (which happens to be released in '73) but I'm not sure if any stage versions with Gerber had been around in that year, in America at least. I saw something which said he'd been in a Canadian production in '72, though I can't say for sure. Very interesting thought, though. :)

The Phantom of the Paradise ... I'm doing the revival for my schools musical. I guess it may be bigoted but I prefer the revival because it's more upbeat and has stronger vocals.
