Did something similar with 2 exceptions. I sandwiched 2x4 welded wire fencing between the post and boards and used 16 ft boards with staggered joints.

If you add another block to the top of your jig that will sit on top of the previous board that is already screwed in, the jig will not slip down under the weight of the unscrewed boards.

We painted our fence white, so it has a layer of protection. We have 4-5 boards that warped. The majority of them stayed in great condition.

Not to be negative, but isn’t the nice side of the fence supposed to face the road and not the house? I’ve never seen a fence where the boards face the other side of the road?

Lol! Great point. We had several discussions on the best way to set the fence. We even set up a sample run. In the end, we decided we liked it better the other way.

This is the proper way to face the runners if there is livestock being kept in. If the runners faced the road then a cow or horse could push the runners off. Good job.

Now, after a year or so, how are the deck boards doing as far as getting warped? With that much space between posts, I'm betting the boards have warped enough that you are having to replace some, or had to add a vertical support in between your posts to keep everything straight. If not, you are very luck, so far.

You couldn’t be more wrong. I’ve been doing horse fences for 15 years and just showed this video to a client to explain the process and stumbled across your comment. This is pressure treated 5/4”decking, and there is no warpage even on jobs I did 15 years ago. And our posts are always 95” on center.

Nooooooo. Don't paint it!!! You are just creating a lifetime of work as the paint flakes off and has to be redone over and over and over. Just let it weather naturally and blend in to the landscape.

If u sand and prime it u shouldnt have to deal with chipping paint. Paint also provides an extra layer of protection against the weather
