Bought a 9n with nice paint and new tires. Turns out it started smoking real bad, governor not working right, clutch sticks bad, steering gears sloppy, hard to start and seems to have a hairline crack in the block. Got this from a preacher who said it was a good machine(true story) About 7 yrs later it still sits in my garage. Don't have the will the skill or the energy to tackle all the issues. Trying to rebuild a 67 olds 442 and that project is all I can bare. Guess I'll keep mowing the 7 acres with my 15 yr old 42 in Murray.😷🍺

Bad news on the poor old tractor But doesn't get any sweeter than a 442. I passed on a 74 442 w Hurst package when I was a kid. Still kick myself

I have a to20 that runs good (finally). My worry is about the block cracking😅. Has this been a problem for you?

I have a 50 model 8n ford tractor. I was raised on one. My family had one and up 3 growing up. Also had ford 600 with a back hoe and bucket. We logged, we plow fields with the 8n. Dug trenches to laid pipe going from the well to the house. You can save more than just on the tractor alone, price getting others to do what you can do for yourself. Bushhoggin, is important, so is all the other things you can do. Just take care of it. Don't treat it like it's bigger than it is. It might can out pull the big tractors or out run them. They done prove one thing. They'll out last them when taken care of.
