I'm insanely jealous. Back in 78 I bought a 71 340. 4 bbl car. Came from the factory with the Shaker hood. Gran Coupe interior, Rim blow steering wheel, console. Black on black. I sold the car cause I was a fool kid at the time and I have kicked myself ever since. Mine had the fender louvers like yours too. I really miss mine all these years later. That's a good starter car you got there. Good luck with it.

I enjoy your videos and I’m looking forward to seeing your progress. Lucky you to find that broad cast sheet.I had a 71 Cuda with a 383 column shift. I paid $800 in 1995. I got it running and sold it for $2000 six months later. I wish I had kept it. Also had a 73 Cuda 340 automatic. Oh well!

@amostlymoparfamily so it was originally a FE5 red, 318/904 A/C column shift car. I'm putting back to original color, Its got a magnum 360 in it with a mild cam, sticking with the 904, column shift, and I did a 8 3/4 swap ( had a 7 1/4 orig.) I don't plan on cloning it to a cuda, it's just gonna be close to be close to what it was originally , and a fun driver.

The Trunk Lock key could have been made off the Glove Box, since they're the same. Or, the lock could have been impressioned. Mopar & Ford Locks in the 60's & 70's are all Pin Tumbler. Just like a Lock on a Home or Business. I was a Locksmith for 16 Years , I have made many keys 🔑 for all the Ford, GM, Mopar Locks. 😊 I wish you the best with your Awesome 71 CUDA. If I win the Lotto Soon, I will Pitch in with some 💵👌🏻 So this car can be done to Graveyard Cars Standards ❤ MOPAR OR NO CAR.

Subbed. The patina on this car is amazing. Imo replace/repair the rotted floors and roof skin. Reshape and hammer out the dents on the rest of the car!. Yes even the pass door. I love that car. So original. Maybe paint the roof rustolium 7777 black or off white. Even with a brush! Then wipe on clear the rest like VGGs stuff. Grateful you started a channel. One day at a time. God is good🌄👍🎩.

Honestly, if it wasnt a real deal cuda, id say do an ecodiesel v6 and 8 speed automatic transmission like i plan to do. 240 horsepower and more torque than a 426 hemi stock. I plan to tune mine to 335 whp which is what the 383 big blocks had. Best guess on torque is about 550 pound feet. But i say for your car, do a 6.4 hemi with an 8 speed transmission. Youll get about 25 mpg all day long (because its in a very lightweight car) and have all the asphalt crushing power you could ever want. My advice for exhaust is do ONLY 2 original mopar style mufflers outta the back. It'll sound incredible, just like an original cuda. But thats just my opinion.

My dream car is a 71 383 pistol grip but I know you cant find one stock or even reasonable any more. I thought about buying a 70 Baracuda and just make a clone. But see these rollers are up there with 2 nd gen chargers I think I will just go with a Charger now when I get my new business off the ground and moved

It seems like the Barracuda/Cuda hit its peak popularity before the charger so many of the good projects were snatched up in the 90’s/00’s. The charger seems to be top dog now. There seem to be a lot more charger projects popping up then barracudas…neither are cheap though.

It's your choice, but I'm glad you're not going overboard restoring this car! It's so sad seeing original survivor cars with very little rust getting all done up. Seen too many friends drop 5 digits into their first car or passion car, then it becomes a garage and trailer queen that doesn't get driven like it should. Such a shame. And in the end, after it's out the dipper, you end up putting in as much new metal as a car that's been sitting in the woods for 50 years. Dig em out and drive em! You seem knowledgeable, but if you're looking for inspiration to get the dents out of the car, off of the top of my head on KZbin, Dylan McCool's Challenger and Junkerup's "Patina" '69 Charger both had very similar passenger door damage, they pulled everything out while keeping/recreating the patina perfectly. Good luck on the build and I hope your health stays up! Fuck cancer.

Congrats on finding the broadcast sheet. How durable is your floor finish? Drawing up a new shop for my projects. (Similar to yours). Was going to just go with a regular concrete smooth finish out of concerns with trans fluid and other work tearing up a finish like yours.

Thanks! I used a Sherwin Williams product called Rexthane…8-9 years ago. It is pretty tough and 1:21 will not lift with chemicals/oils. It does scratch and sometimes chip if I am rolling a car around and a rock/pebble gets underneath the dolly wheels. I like it a lot…the downside is I don’t work in my shop as much because I don’t want to scrape it! lol

Thats tiny, i know were one is with 440 six pack, 727 auto, blue on black and is a survivor with original paint, 1 owner. Oh with a/c, and power windows with 45k original miles! Can you get any better than that. It's that same blue on black your car is. Those vinyls tops are cool if taking care of.

I've seen those car's botched up so bad that they've put Rhino Bed Liner spray and done the entire floorboards, trunk floors inside and underneath the floors and trunk pan's with a new lookn gas tank lol..I can't believe that they'd botch em all up and get top dollar for each and everyone that people has done thataway..Magnets are always a good thing to have when shopping around for that certain dream car..I'm guessing they've watched Barrett Jackson prices and some of em probably got slipped through the high end auctions that ol Billy Bob and his best friends put together with a very low budget..My reason for bringing this up is a lady wanting her dream car and a few guys that was to interested in the vehicle to even have a clue of how bad they were put together, they didn't know how bad they were done and they got burnt. I really don't know if the car's were taken apart for a ground up restoration with all new period correct metal or American made panels that's OEM cause after looking really closely, after buying the vehicle's I honestly felt bad for em..One guy went back to get a refund and the place was gone where he bought the car..I'm pretty sure that a couple of em were Mopars but I couldn't believe how bad they were done..

If he just wanted a bracket racer he would build an S10 or similar cheaper. Not practical to use a big block '71 Cuda,they stopped making these several years ago.
@jhs8496
@jhs8496 6 ай бұрын
@@bradleynelson5915 S-10 is too, too light in the bed unless you plan on hauling a couple hundred pounds of ballast. But then it's a bracket racer and consistency from the driver and the vehicle is key. If you can run your dial right on the money AND consistently hit .4XX lights, that will be a tough package to beat, even if your dial is 14.80 or something.

it makes then look original and it preserves i can tell you never owned a car or if you do your dont take good care of it because the rust protects the metal fr deteriorating anymore its about the same as if it was painted if its just surface rust also when you get a car painted youll always worry about scratching it or messing up the fresh paint
