I've watched this a few times over now and all I can think of is a poor defenseless and sad child, maybe six or seven. Maybe that's why the giant showed us empathy. Because we were a small hurt child in the middle of a very dangerous forest. And I imagine those herbs would be very expensive, so we must be very poor too. We must be an only child and our father must be dead for our mother to be so compliant for us to go and get herbs to heal her(or maybe we snuck away) So, I like to think that the giant has a heart of gold.
