I never watched either show, but looking at this compilation it's weird to me how the remake handles it differently. In most of the cases in the original, it's treated like Zack actually has the power to stop time, with him doing stuff while everyone is frozen. In the remake, it's treated as a straight fourth wall break, where the protagonist talks to the audience and not much else really happens. Also the original just had everyone stop moving, without any camera tricks or sound effects, while the remake adds a blur effect and a record scratch when it pauses. Just thought that was a neat difference.

Late to comment but you are absolutely right. When people speak of 1990's, I still sometimes think that it was just a decade or so ago. It's awesome to look back on the show with nostalgia, but it also sucks once you realize we're getting old! lol

In the original series Zack Morris calls Time-Out 7 times in 7 different places. This video covered five of them. It left out the time Zack called Time-Out twice in the Bayside hallway to talk about the dirt bike for the bet on Slater’s wrestling match and the other was during the driver’s ed episode where Zack calls Time-Out in Slater’s garage. I will go through the 7 Time-Outs in order of production with episode titles and DVD time marks: 1. “Aloha Slater” happened in the Bayside Boys Bathroom to Slater (15:43-15:57) NOTE: This is the first Time-Out and considering that Zack waved his hand in front of Slater’s face he must be in shock and awe at this new ability. It is never specified why Zack can do this. 2. “Pinned To The Mat” happened in the Bayside Hallway on Career Day to Slater, Kelly, Lisa and everyone in the hall - twice! Because Screech had moonwalked out of the hallway, he is not in Time-Out (2:42-3:13) & (3:22-3:29) NOTE: Zack is getting comfortable in his new ability and goes as far as buttoning up Slater’s shirt during the second Time-Out before calling the second Time-In. 3. “Driver’s Education” happened in Slater’s Garage to Slater, Kelly, Lisa, Jessie and even Screech! (cuts to commercial before a Time-In can be called) (7:35-7:43) NOTE: This is the only time during the original series that Screech is in Time-Out and it’s also the only Time-Out that is not located anywhere on the Bayside High School Campus. 4. “Glee Club” happened in the Bayside Auditorium to everyone there including Slater, Lisa and Jessie along with Mr. Tuttle (17:45-18:06) NOTE: This episode of Saved By The Bell conclusively proves that Time-Out only works in one single room as Zack actually leaves the auditorium and goes backstage to meet up with Screech who is in full motion and ready to help Zack manipulate the sound system. It could probably be said that Kelly & Violet were not in Time-Out either as they both had left to go to the girls room. They also happen to be the love interests of both Zack & Screech, respectively. 5. “Breaking Up Is Hard To Undo” happened in the Bayside Boys Locker Room to Slater and Mr. Belding where Zack actually removes himself from Mr. Belding’s arm (switches scenes before a Time-In can be called) (16:45-17:03) 6. “The Video Yearbook” happened right in Mr. Bell-Ding’s Office and deserves a drumroll! Mr. Belding gets ahold of Zack and Slater is about to punch him while Kelly is about to make out with Vince Montana so Zack calls Time-Out and removes himself from the hold. He also places paper between Kelly & Vince to block their lips from locking and Zack who essentially “teleports” from the room leaves Mr. Belding to take Slater’s punch! (18:36-18:53) 7. “The Wicked Stepbrother” happened in the Bayside Parking Lot to Slater and Mr. Belding and the Time-In is called in perfectly to catch the car keys (16:55-17:03) NOTE: This is the last Time-Out in production for the original series and the only one that happens in an “outdoor setting”. It’s also the second time where Slater & Mr. Belding are the only ones in the Time-Out. 7 Time-Outs in 7 different places NOTE: Slater is ALWAYS in Time-Out!

Zack doesn't actually stop time, but he seems to stop peoples motion and sense of time. That's why he can interact, call and talk with people outside of his time out radius. But i don't know if his grown up version is canon but it seems he have mastered timeout to actually be a complete timestopper. Or gain the power to actually stop motion completely not only by people but objects aswell.
