Saved from crashing GT3RS during warm up lap Nordschleife//.

This was way too close!
Just started a slow and easy warm-up lap. A 991.1 GT3RS tries to pass me during a yellow flag which is very dangerous and not done.
After that the other RS was closing in from time to time until I wanted to let him pass just before mutkurve but he didn't want to. So I made the rookie mistake of paying to much attention to my rear view mirror instead of my own driving. By the time I realised I couldn't make the exit and I saw I was going to the grass, I just waited at the right time to straighten up my steering to hopefully coast over it in a straight line. Very, very lucky on this one.
Lesson learned.

During the steering corrections were you on the brake or accelerator or just back off both? My initial reaction is lift off (mid engine). I never lift off if at high speed and in a long corner - but in a situation like that I don't know if I can or could control my feet as well as I would my arms and hands.
@yetidh9
@yetidh9 5 жыл бұрын
Well unless you have massive balls (or you're a pro driver) you won't be anywhere near the throttle when you're wrestling a tank slapper in your 200k car. What happens is you flap your arms around in a panic and press the brake because of instinct. Usually ABS will slow the car enough to allow you to recover the slide if you're lucky.

Agree with some of the other comments here. You did seem a little less relaxed after the yellow flag incident. Then when youve got some other ahole up your ass then things become tense and stressful. Takes the fun out of a nice day at the track. I recognise it in myself. It's very difficult not to become proud and competitive and let yourself be pushed by the guy behind. Is so much easier to follow than to be the lead car. I often have to force myself to let the buttholes pass and remember how much I dont want to have a bingle. Like my car too much for that. Very nice save. I bet your heart rate jumped up a little. Take care of yourself and the car. Love your vids. keep em coming. Cheers :)

Fundamentally, the problem anymore with the "ring" is that there's so many drivers (and cars) with different talents and most drivers run out of talent well before the car does. Just because some ahole with a big ego wants to pass, then by all means, let him pass, even if on a yellow (I am still looking for the elusive yellow here)...... There's no prize here, no awards being given out and NO sponsorships at the end of a great lap. Just a sense of pride. So, if someone wants to wad up their very expensive car that wont be covered by insurance, then by all means, let them do it.
