🦊🦊what a journey this vlog was. So glad you loved Daisy Jones and the Six. It’s my favorite of the Taylor Jenkins Reid books I’ve read so far. You picked up some terrific sounding books and some of the proofs you received are of books I’m quite eager to read. The envy is real. I do actually like the dates so that I can keep track of the timeline (and also think about what I was doing on those days). Thank Chris for his humor! Hope you continue to mend and be well.

I don’t usually listen to audio books but borrowed Daisy Jones and the Six from the library. It is amazing with a full cast. Glad to see The Falling Thread getting a mention. I bought it because my family were originally from Manchester. Also the cover reminded me of the type of cover on books from my childhood.

Were you in the Mersey Tunnel when you were on the way to the station for Birmingham? That seemed so familiar. It doesn’t really matter what day it is but it’s nice to know in an odd way because it’s like moving through time with you. I did LOL at the scrotum spotting. I’m just reading Other Half right now. I wasn’t sure at first but now I am thoroughly enjoying it. Gorgeous rug. Doesn’t Chris have a wicked giggle and yay the bum is back!! I was really surprised to see a book about horses after your comments about them (I love horses by the way but that’s not important) Glad you are feeling better. Generally I don't re-watch movies, but I do have a couple of shorter classic books I like to read again once every 5 to 10 years. 1984. Mrs. Dalloway. I encounter them differently each time. But I avoid rereading the longer classics from my teens/20s as they often disappoint on a reread and I want to keep them in my mind as favourites. 🦊🦊

I agree with you in that I will rewatch my favourite movies and shows, but I never re-read books. Too many books that I have not explored and too little time. I loved Daisy Jones. Strange swervy side note- if you have not heard any Peter Green Fleetwood Mac, I highly recommend looking him up on KZbin. Judas Priest did a cover of his song Green Manalishi, and the original is definitely worth a listen.

All the library programs you talk about makes me think that the library system in the UK is much better funded then those in the US. You especially seem to have sophisticated and complex national library programs, where our library funding tends to be limited to local and state and there really aren’t multiple city national programs going on here in the US, especially funded by the federal government. That’s not to say we don’t have lots of national library campaigns, but those primarily come from our American Library Association.

I don’t think it’s funded well at all. It’s one of the most cut services in the UK. I think what’s happened is they’ve become savvier at getting funding and working on places to find it. That’s in part my role and the role of the charity I work for.

Hello Simon. I am currently reading 2 books, first is The Island of Missing Trees, which I am reading 💯 based on your recommendation, and I am LOVING IT! But I wonder, have you planted a fig tree in your garden yet? I think you must! And second I am reading Daisy Jones and the Six, and also loving that, but in this instance I must say, you are completely wrong! 😜. The paperback covers you have for the Taylor Jenkins Reid books in England are so much BETTER than that ugly hardcover version you showed… which is what I am forced to endure as I read it! Your Carrie Soto cover is amazing… ours… UGLY! But the writing is beautiful either way!

I do indeed have a fig tree in the garden. It’s actually been there four four years so before I had read Missing Trees and possibly before it was written. Hahahaha. Chris has taken cuttings and grown about six more. Maybe we should start a fig tree farm. Hahaha. I do also now have an indoor fig which is peaking in on the left of the screen called Elif.

Wow. That is so cool! It is 7*F today, and they are forecasting a windchill of -40*F… so I don’t think a fig could survive here, but it is great that you are having such good luck with yours. And I love that you named one Elif! ❤
